    A WingChun cryfest:MMA hates strikers

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tmUBQvy9knoSo apparenty the octagon hate strikers and it's impossible to generate any power in the ring. This guy makes a few fair points but he takes it way too far.

Edit: to stupid to upload to bulltube or bulltube sucks, also too stupid to embed video properly. One of you dorks please fix.

Funny, I've seen countless MMA knockouts, head kicks, fisticuffs and hockey fights but I have yet to see a Chun Man do anything other than bray like an ass.

One might think that after more than two decades of MMA people would have already realized just how useless the striking game is. . . Maybe everyone just got distracted by all the training and fighting they were doing?

I sure am glad that we have WC guys like this to make these kinds of analyses for us!

            More excuses.

And mass lulz at the attempt to liken vertical punching with actual punching, "now nearly everyone uses similar punching methods to ours".

            Shut the fuck up.

Hey now, not everything he said was bad.

I really liked the idea of sealing two Chunners in a plexiglass box with a hard floor and making them fight for our amusement. (Just so long as the thing is sealed hermetically.)

I like some of the things he has mentioned but not to do with WC/ MMA. The comparison of boxing/ MMA gloves and bare fists takes a decent scientific approach as does the use of Newton's Law in striking. I like an approach that is scientifically justified and give anyone credit for researching as such.

A friend of mine is a university lecturer who has worked with many world leading sports teams who has access to amazing equipment to measure force/ velocity/ other physics stuff etc and it is useful in evolving sporting practices and equipment. We've had some pretty in depth discussions about the dynamics of MA movements as well as running technique (I like to run stupidly long distances).

So- I have no opiion on WC vs MMA but like science.

If you like science you'd probat enjoy things that are evidence based which means you probably won't be liking the Chun.

That is the bit I liked the most. Because after saying chun punching works he goes on to say why it doesn't because the mats are too squishy.

They do realise people mma in boxing rings as well don't they?

Typical chunner. Lots of talking. No doing.

If the dude wants to fight a grappler on a hard floor with hard walls I say go ahead. I think he'll find the squishy floor is a lot more forgiving of takedowns compared to chain punches.

There are two kinds of Chunner, the ones fighting in MMA and other open formats now (whether they win or not, they're out there), and the ones that make all these fucking videos.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess these groups are mutually exclusive.

These guys exist because Joe Rogan fractured the Chun, and now these guys have to find the right Shard er video that will heal the Chun and bring peace to their world of Chun.

A lot of other "Chunners" (the quiet ones) are actually training in the pressure cooker. WE only hear about them when they step out into the light, and even then, their own "kin" say "it's not Wing Chun". It's a dog-eat-dog culture, and these videos hurt more than help imo.

There is no crying in kung fu.

I would very much like to see the protective gear that is going to thwart chokes, and prevent ankles, knees, elbows, and shoulders from being successfully attacked. All while enabling the WC practitioner to move and fight relatively unencumbered. Silly analogy is silly.

Or you could suggest there are lots of variations on the combat sport theme. From vale tudo to bare knuckle boxing.

And the chun dose not dominate any of them.
