Oh, my bad, sir, got myself confused with a comment from Evergrey back in the second page of this thread. It's funny though, since there is in fact a woman with huge breasts who bounty hunts while dressed as a streetwalker and an androgynous child as main characters in Bebop. That being said, those actually totally factor into making the characters more believable and sympathetic, IMHO.

I have not, but I would watch that, once again I am not really an Anime fan boy, I have enjoyed a number of series.
Black Heaven rates one of my favorites which is funny because the core of the plot is silly but they pull it off.
Most of the cyber punk stuff I have enjoyed.
Giant fighting robots are hit or miss for me.
Fantasy based ones I typically enjoy.
Harem animes my wife loves a few of them I have liked.
I have seen a couple of good political based ones.

Yeah, I'm kind of ambivalent about anime in general, but there are a few things here and there which are pretty fantastic.

Yeah this is me, I enjoy a good story and don't care what the medium is be it video game, graphic novel, print novel, live action series, or animated series.
That being said I do like the freedom that is afforded to the Anime medium. I have seen great stories. I have been exposed to a lot of anime as my wife is an anime geek and she has 100s of dvds.

I've never seen Black Heaven. I'll have to take a look.

I think to truly "get" Black Heaven you have had to be a part of "the rat race".
Also being close to a midlife crisis would help some.

I did enjoy Gundam Wing, I also was unable to really get into any of the other Gundam series.

I always struggled to get interested when giant mechs are involved, but I hear that's the place to go if that floats your boat. Also, I hear the last few episodes get really trippy and take place inside the protagonist's head, which is always great: I think it's a law of nature at this point that anime endings have to be as mind-bogglingly confusing as possible.

I am not big on "angst" and thus I hated catcher in the rye. That being said its worth watching but I certainly didn't love it. Although I do have to admit I thought the scene where Shinji is whacking it to Auskas comatose body was actually really brilliant.
