I am poor but happy. And wishing I could get Dragon Age II and Dragon Age: Inquisition through Steam.

I've heard some iffy things about DAII. I basically burned out on Inquisition 40hrs in and less than half way through. It's trying to hard to be Skyrim, and ends up being incredibly padded with boring stupid bullshit. Also, I hereby designate this the nerd stuff thread. Nerds.

In my opinion, DAII is great if you weren't crazy about the first game, you don't think of it as a sequel to that game and if you can accept that yes, the game was rushed out the door by EA and you're gonna see some re-used assets. The combat is more fluent and fast-paced, the story dispenses with the "something evil is threatening the world, gather a group of rag-tag misfits to fight it" that is the plot of every Bioware game ever and instead tells a much more personal story. Also, it focuses more on the Mage-Templar moral quandary that's some of the more interesting material in the game world IMO. Basically, take it with a pinch of salt and forget the name.

Really? I thought I'd built the perfect get-fat-diet over here (I supplement with Guinness and pizza). Then again, two years ago I would sit at the computer 10+ hours a day, no exercise, chips and soda by the bucketfuls, and I was actually even *skinnier* back then. My body is like the anti-mass equation given physical form.

Funny how people will believe this but not "I eat damned near nothing and am fat as hell." But seriously, there are people who eat a fuckton of crap and never gain weight, and people who can only lose weight if they do it in an incredibly dangerous, self-destructive fashion. Sucks. Lots of assumptions on either side.

As for DAII, my sister (who writes video game reviews for a living) said similar things, about it being rushed out the door and re-using assets.

She is loving Inquisition but says you can't be a sassy snarky bitch without consequences, and she had to start over because everyone hated her character the first playthrough.

I wonder if I can get a polyamory mod for Origins somehow? :p

Honestly, people tend not to believe me either, and are usually shocked to discover that I work out several times a week and eat twice as much as anyone else around the dinner table. Genetics are kinda silly like that, but I guess things could be a lot worse so I try not to make an issue of it (though it is annoying having my much beefier friends tell me about strength training like it's a foreign concept to me, and how I just need to give it my all and I'll bulk up in no time).

Alas, I haven't played Inquisition yet, my computer being crapped out and everything (and the only games I'll willingly play on console are fighting games), but I've heard good things about it across the board. Out of curiosity, what website/magazine/whatever does your sister write for?

You say this, but a short little jaunt on reddit proves that there are droves of people who really do not believe. :p

Yeah, women who are like that are accused of being anorexic, and men are often not believed. But it's still more likely than general society believing that a fat person eats little and works out a lot. Sucks either way, like I said.

She writes for a couple. RPGamer and I something called cheatsomethingorother. And random contract work. Pay's crap but she loves it.

Seen most of it while the wife was watching it, it is pretty good.

The excessive fanservice killed it for me. Interesting idea, but the camera angles during fight scenes were just too much.

I'm in the same boat. For some reason, I can enjoy story-heavy smut, but smut-flavored story just makes my skin crawl. For maximum fanservice, check out Arcade Gamer Fubuki, where pantyshots are a central plot point.

I scoff at the notion of their being too much fan-service. Now that being said, I am not going to sit down and watch something because of it, I do require a decent plot to hold my interest.
That being said I get exposed to quite a bit rarely does any really catch my interest, of course that can be due to the anime geek in my family liking the vapid inane cute crap that is the same story retold time and time again....so I guess at least getting a bit of fan service out of it while its on helps some.
