In comic stuff, I highly recommend the older Marvel stuff. The Chris Claremont/Joe Byrne run of Uncanny X-Men, Iron Man Demon in a Bottle/Armor Wars, and the Infinity Saga are all great.
Comic books have always sort of intimidated me, it seems like there's about six decades of back-story I'd have to get into before any of it would make sense to me, and I never had them conveniently available to me so I never bothered. I kinda swerved to the eastern end of nerdom instead: I've watched unfortunate amounts of anime and if you knew how many lonely nights I've devoted to sucking at BlazBlue, you'd probably cry a little.

Heh. We're all nerds here. Even my MMA gym in Germany has a disproportionately large number of nerds. So much for stereotypes. I also highly recommend Psycho-Pass (or anything else written by Gen Urobuchi) if you haven't seen it yet.

Psycho-Pass is good and it has some damned good scoring, too!

I've been rewatching it with my sister recently. Production IG did a damn good job with the animation. The Blu-Ray looks amazing. Unfortunately the second season was only okay (wasn't written by Urobuchi), but there is a movie coming out in a few months that was written by Urobuchi and it looks fantastic.

Oh my gods yes please. I did not know this and am now really looking forward to it!
I love real grown-up adult anime with actual characters with real personalities instead of "HEE HEE BOUNCY TITTY HIGH SCHOOL GIRL WITH NO SELF ESTEEM KAWAIIIII" shit.

It has zero panty-shot "SEMPAI NOTICED ME" bullshit and that makes me happy. About adults, for adults. Woot.

This is why I love Gen Urobuchi. He doesn't do that shit. He just questions the meaning of life before brutally killing everyone.

Yeah, Psycho Pass has been on my bucket list for a while, haven't gotten around to it yet though. I definitely steer clear of the kiddie stuff (AKA Naruto and whatever other nonsense most people associate with anime), but I'll be the first to admit I have a certain predilection for really pointless, eventless series. One of my favorite shows ever consists of nothing but three girls sitting by a computer and looking stuff up on Wikipedia. Not very action-packed, but did you know that the heart of a blue whale weighs about 600 kilos (1300 pounds)?

I just got the new Blu-Ray release for Christmas. How can anyone not like anime Firefly?

I guess I've got another one for my bucket list. I swear, I've got enough of a backlog of games I need to play and shows I need to watch to keep me busy for the coming decade.

Please don't remind me; my wallet's stretched enough between Chinese takeout, PS2 games and Gin & Tonics as it is. (Un)fortunately, my computer shat the bed a few months ago and I haven't gotten around to replacing it yet, so my gaming options are limited at present.
