Interested in beginning Judo, looking for school

Looking for legitimate school in the Chicago West Suburbs (Within driving distance of Naperville/Aurora). I have had a difficult time (as a newbie) finding a school that does not seem like a McDojo. Unfortunately, most posts on these forums are outdated by almost a decade.

Appreciate any help you all can give, thanks!

The best advice we could give you is to read the stickies and then go visit the schools based on the guidelines there.

If you still need help deciding on a school, post the details here and we'll do our best to help you.

I don't know the geography of Chicago well enough to know if it is do able for you.
I believe they are out in Vernon Hills.
That maybe too far for you, it still may be well worth the trip for you.

You mean you have had trouble finding a judo club that doesn't look like a McDojo? That would be a bit odd for Judo, although not unheard of.

Holy crap, if you can't find a good judo school in chitown....

A good school/good teacher makes all the difference. it's best to get in the mindset of being accepting of traveling about 45 minutes to a good dojo. I love training in Chicago, a great MA town! You are blessed to be there. All I know in the Aurora area is a Yoshinkan or Daito Ryu school, can't rember which, and Prob not what you'd want. There's def good judo closer to the city and I know you can get to the L
