While your browsing Black Belt is their anyway you can verfiy the claim that black belt indeed ran an article where a Judoka was killed in said duel?

Man, I want to build a time machine so I could go back in time to argue with Black Belt editorial writers, using evidence from the future.

Why do you think any evidence would help?

Reading a martial arts magazine published in the years before the UFC is like reading a Daredevil comic before Frank Miller took over. It's amazing what was considered important. For example, in a 1992 publicity stunt, Bob Wall gathered a group of twelve martial artists to challenge Steven Seagal in a kickboxing match. The "Dirty Dozen" saga lasted for months without anything coming about...

... Not unlike most modern Bullshido Gong Saus, I guess.

          ^ Seven of the twelve.

PS: Pre-UFC Jason DeLucia actually took the time to go and wait at Seagal's dojo. When it became obvious that Seagal never actually comes around, he went and took the Gracie Challenge instead.

Now, that is a perfect one-two combo.

^ Alleged Kumite photos published in 1980 do not resemble alleged Kumite footage posted in 2013:

Surely both are authentic, though, despite the difference. The photos are in black-and-white and have bars over the fighters' eyes. The video was in sepia-tone. That makes it look shitty enough to seem legitimate, just like blurry UFO photos.
