On both the topics of cycling and recreational crimefighting, I've been seriously thinking about starting a vigilante gang to set up bait bikes and go after bike thieves. Probably without tights and a cape, though.
I've had two bikes stolen now (one a lock cut, and more recently a tire theft), and the Ann Arbor police have absolutely no interest in stopping bike theft above telling people to get bigger locks.

Well, there's different levels of stupid. Riding your bike in traffic may be a bit stupid but it's easy to fix. Super-heroing around your city is major stupid and there doesn't seem to be any kind of fix for these people.

Make sure you apply this logic to your bait bikes:

Anybody remember how Stickdeath used to be the only thing you could do on the internet?

Even the bikes would be more dangerous. They routinely get mashed.

I just finished decorating a military surplus flak vest with psychedelic patterns in glow in the dark paints, so it'd be kind of a shame to not be a superhero now.

Superheros patrolling on bikes would be cool though.

I generally just think of RLSH as neighborhood watch with balls.
Many just help the homeless and call the police when there are problems. To the unwise who think they go around fighting gun-wielding criminals, that is not the case.

Phoenix jones and the like break up fights and stuff, but his crew wears bulletproof gear. Theres actually a video of phoenix jones beating up a guy in a street fight.

he didn't do the right thing here of course, should have let the police deal with the guy, but Jones is kind of an attention whore.

Guys like Dark Guardian are probably better role models, he and his crew patrol parks to keep drug dealers out

Though they have yet to take down any proper supervillains, the Rain City gang did stumble across what I can only assume was a Captain Planet villain a while back:
