Bujinkan 15th Dan = 3 years of training of Non-Contact Kata + Dodging a Wooden Sword + 10 trips to Japan (usually one a year) after that. So you are looking for around 13 years of playing Ninja Kata for this rank.

The 15th dan is a member of MAP and has been weighing in on this epic 300+ post thread. I guess he has some supporters, but also quite a few detractors as well. Life as a ninjer, I guess.

There is some serious Booj vs. Booj infighting going on now for at least 4 years between these same folks; people taking exception to his rank and some Boojer even claiming "His real skill level is about 2nd kyu." Ouch.

That scuffle led me to his original "Ninja Fitness" thread, where the 15th dan (who was 11th dan in 2011) took part in an even bigger, 500+ post flame war defending his line of Booj-style fitness videos.

There's never been a shortage of Takamatsuden infighting. And Booj infighting has gotten steadily worse over the last ten years. This is all a mere preamble to the horrible Bujinkan meltdown that's coming when Hatsumi shuffles off the mortal coil. I'm not sure we can imagine the number and volume of the cries, "I have the realz ninjutsu" that's coming.

(BTW, everyone knows I've got the Real Ninjutsu. (TM))

I'm going to have to read that thread now...

EDIT: I've read a bit. I see Hannibal is posting, so there's a Bully in the mix. My favorite quote so far is: "Ninjutsu, the only art where the flame wars are more violent than the training."

Quite a time ago, I found a "Gems of the Bujinkan" list. Is that it?

Thanks rabbit. Reading that fitness thread and noticing: nearly HALF of those posters are BANNED. Cheezuz Crust...

And who's this Please Reality guy? His username sounds like a OXY(gen-sucking)MORON due to the fact that nearly all Hatsumi videos defy reality. I found a copy of a Tai Kai said to be the first ever, held at Yumoa Mura, and it's still the stupid attack.

And a 15th dan calling HIMSELF shihan? They just bandy away the titles now, do they.

Something I've realized after some reading: the instructors can grade up to 4th dan. The very first rank Hatsumi gives out is 5th dan. Thing is, that dan symbolizes that you are eligible to TEACH. And how does Hatsumi test that? You guys probably know the answer.

Asking all BJK'ers: is there any skill test AFTER 5th dan? or is it true that it's awarded each time you visit, just for that? I mean, is there no QUALITY TESTING at all?

Well, at least the folks at Yahoo are ridiculing him in the comments section.

                What's a "Boo-shin-kan"?

The creepy guy who read the news was scarier than the ninjer. Like, "I wondered if he remembered to feed the captives in his basement this morning" scary.

I like this comment about "real weapons"....as opposed to I guess...fake weapons?

"Jake started training as a Bujinkan Ninja in 1989 and still trains every day, using real weapons such as throwing stars, swords, and staffs."

Real martial artists totally train with fake weapons, so you can actually whack each other with them.

wait, most important part of being a Ninja is to have a good heart and benefit people? I thought it was to fuck people up? damn Hollywood lied to me!!!

The presence of the women in the background picture wearing the shortie t-shirts hint at the truth, which you guys are all missing. He's not just a ninjer, he's a NINJA PUA!

He stealthily makes his way into bars and clubs in Brighton wearing his cool black outfit, and he combines his ninjer mind control techniques and funny hand gestures with his high-level PUA skills, to render these women completely helpless. After having his way with them, he makes them sign contracts at his dojo, and they forever remain his ninjer sex slaves.

He's received the coveted 15th Dan because of his rare achievement, and probably because Hatsumi gets to roll with the chicks too. Given the purple hair tho, its not entirely clear which way Hatsumi's katana swings.

Whatever happened to Real Ultimate Power, with Ninjas being AWESOME!!!!! ... ?

First red flag: video clip of the guy surrounded by hot young chix in Spandex, arching their backs so their chests present themselves and their butts look enticingly available, like a female chimp in estrus (the way comic book super heroines are drawn, come to think of it).

Second red flag: The lack of martial focus, and his "dead" hands. His mind is elsewhere even when he is demonstrating for the camera.

Seriously, watching that dude's video reminded me of the demos the local krotty schools do at the mall. There's difference between practicing "slow and relaxed" to avoid injury, and being sloppy with your intent and way you carry your body.

Third red flag: And the sword handling was... clumsy. I'm a Big Klutz but even I learned how to handle a sword more facilely than that. He grips the tsuka (hilt) like a hammer.

Won't bother with other red flags (the first one was enuff, IMO).

Sorry, I don't care what his purple-haired teacher does for a living or what rank he was awarded. He acts on the level of game-role playing, if the video and stills are any indication.

15th dan? FFS. Are there even 15 ranks before Dan? Is it like white, yellow, blue, brown, and then 15 levels of black?
