    Loren Christensen

So as part of the Bob Yoder mess, I started looking into the people from which he has obtained cross-ranks. I found this guy as the founder of the Modern Samurai Association. He also says he is an 8th Dan in Shotokan and is listed by Black Belt magazine as one of the 20 toughest martial artists alive. Does this look anything like Shotokan to you?

For some reason, this photo makes me laugh.

No idea, I'm just surprised that "disimulate" is actually a word.

There are a number of perfectly valid reasons, starting with...

        Never heard of this guy.

I perused his website a little. When you look at the "20 Toughest Men Alive" recognition he received from Black Belt Magazine, it gives you the list. It seems that it's a list of people who, in BBM's opinion, are the 20 Toughest Street Fighters. Well, how do you rank that? Did they just listen to a bunch of stories about these guys and their street fights? Did anyone from BBM witness those street fights? Is there anyone corroborating these guys?

Christensen's site also states that he has "11 black belts in 3 different fighting arts". Well, what does that mean? Which fighting arts? Why aren't they listed? The only rlisting I could find was in one of the interviews of him that his site links to. In that interview he states he is:
-7th Dan in American Free-Style Karate
-2nd Dan in Wu Ying Tao
        -2nd Dan in Aiki-Jujitsu
        -1st Dan in Modern Arnis

There's 4...no idea what the other 7 are in. Not really sure what to make of this guy. It may be that he's got some legit background and he's just hyping himself a bit to sell his books. As for his connection to Yoder...your guess is as good as mine.
