    Hi all

    Matt here.

I'm a 31-year-old musician, educator, dad, and martial arts hobbyist.

I'm just an aikido guy at the moment, but I have some background in more athletic, competitive stuff (mostly TKD). Eventually, I'd like to get back into something a little higher-energy--either a point-scoring sport style like TKD or a low-impact submission style like BJJ--but as for now I have neither the time nor the money so I'll have to be content with my aikido.

I promise, I'm not an aikido Kool-Aid drinker; I train aikido because I like it and I'm well aware that what I do in the dojo doesn't amount to realistic combat training. You will not find me caps lock ranting about how Steven Seagal trained Anderson Silva.

I've been a regular poster at Martial Arts Planet for a couple years now, so any of you who are members there might recognize me.

You all may notice that my join date is listed as three years ago. I made the account, then forgot all about it. I'm just starting posting now.

      Thanks for the welcome, Ninja.

Another Aikidoka with common sense? Dang it, you're ruining my stereotype!

            Welcome to the site.

BJJ is, in my opinion, the lowest impact combat sport. That's why old broken men like me train in it. Well, that and because when people ask me what martial art I train, I tell them that I hug men in pajamas.
Shut the hell up and train.

Yeah, I hug men in pajamas standing up--you do it on the floor. (tee hee)
