Ronald Reagan was in no way responsible for those acts, nor is President Obama responsible for what happened this week. Lots of people hate Americans, and these are crazy times; it was just a matter of time.

I was based at USMC base Camp Pendleton when the Iranians held our hostages for 444 days (IIRC). Iranian students here in the US, on student visas, were holding rallies for the mother land. We were ordered to stay clear. Carter was an ineffectual 'Commander in Chief'. A candy ass in my opinion.

Once Regan was sworn in, the Iranians in effect said "here you go, we want no shit with you" and the hostages were freed.

The Lebanese and USS Cole bombings were next. Many died.

Still, this shit goes beyond politics. While I hope Obama is history in another couple of months, let's keep it real. We can't appease those who hate us for our perceived actions against their ignorant backwater selves.
