YouTube Pundit who claims all Martial Artists are really just broken people

So basically, this idiot believes the reason we do these sports is because we all been bullied, beaten, or raped (or perhaps all three?), and we go into the ring to attempt to control the violence in our lives instead of dealing with the underlying issues.

    :LOLnotext:

Then this tool believes that because people got angry at being called raped, molested, and abused by their parents or whoever - that this proves his theory.

    Jesus Christ.

Let us celebrate this idiot's idiocy together.

I understand to a certain degree. I was abused (physically and emotionally) by my step father and I got into the martial arts. Thing is, I got into the martial arts AFTER I was able to confront him and break both of his knees with a baseball bat at the age of 12. I started martial arts because it kept me from keeping in the rage that I felt.

Oh great, another dipshit who thinks he's Ghandi.

Please explain to me, with your deepfounded life experience, on how to live my life and deal with all these emotions that I have.

        Jesus. Wow.

First off, I think his argument is slightly different. I almost take it from the "perpetuating the cycle of violence" instead of ending it, which is how I am reading what you said.

But to say that all of us have suffered such trauma, and that is *why* we gravitate to these arts is wrong. It is a dangerous stereotype.

I think that you read into his diatribe correctly. He thinks that if you have never "ended" the cycle, then you have this unresolved anger. I just had rage against this douchebag. Even after I broke his knees. After starting MAs, I lost that anger rather quickly.

Ask him to explain why dinosaurs fought, or for that matter, why rabbits fight. Is it all because of daddy issues?

Conflict is part of nature regardless of conditions like abuse, neglect, hunger, or sadness. Martial artists seek to prepare themselves to handle conflict better, particularly how to control their own emotions/fears/response to pain.

This seems like the kind of guy who cries off camera when someone on the internet tells him to shut up. Their tweets and email insults must validate his theory! It couldn't possibly be that he's a bald, self-righteous douchebag.

When his Youtube show is called "True News" you know it's a crock of shit.

                  Shows what he knows!

I got into martial arts to enhance my child beating skills.

Why would I want to disprove his theory?

How does he address theories that some kids start learning martial arts because Jackie Chan is goddamn awesome?

Well fuck, if only I had known to take up martial arts. I doubt it would have been much use against the bullies I had. When I did start MA it was out of boredom. Although I can see the point on MA attracting a certain set of people.

I did get bullied in my last year at school, but unfortunately for this blokes theory I took up martial arts way before then, and the reason I started Judo as a kid (though stopped after a year back then) was because my mates were also doing it, simple as that. And I did Kung Fu as a teenager as I wanted to do flying kicks like Bruce Lee, for fucks sake!

I got bullied quite a bit as a youngster (I could usually get mad enough to fight back, but still...). Did that help eventually get me into martial arts? Maybe...who cares? I do know that I got into Kyokushin after I nearly got into a fight at a local bar with a guy who was intimidating, and I felt that my aiki background at the time had not prepared me for a violent situation. (this site had a lot to do with my choice)

I'm much harder to intimidate now, and as a result of that, I don't really get screwed with. The improved physique and conditioning makes me much more laid back and peaceful and improves my life in nearly every way.

                            This guy can get screwed.
