All that truly matters is constantly drilling the Steven seagal crane kick

Or an awesome striker who occasionally submits people. Or have a really good wrestling base and great cardio. Or you know, insert any other combination that describes some successful fighter.

Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is the only important facet in combat. The UFC event last night likely took place in a country where Jiu-Jitsu is not very prevalent, hence the low number of submissions.

Sorry the game is now at a level where MMA is supposed to be a master of all trades.

Let's just say that the Gracie Era is long gone.

    Relative importance of ground/strike/clinch

So, given that Striking, Clinch and Grapple are all important, is there a relative importance for each?

I'm saying, would it be more beneficial to focus on one area over another to a certain extent? For example, I watched the prelims of UFC 147 and I noticed that all but one were victory via striking or GnP (which does presuppose grappling ability), and only one via submission

Now, I don't really watch much, if any, MMA, but I've just landed somewhere where you can get it on TV. So, is there a greater ratio of MMA success as strikers vs submissioneers (submariners?)
