American Schools Shaolin Kempo (and the BS I have dealt with)

I remember them. I went for my free lesson almost 30 years ago. They said their system was Shaolin Kempo and Chin Na (Chinese Throwing Art?) I did some American Kenpo and I don't remember the Villari thing being the same. Even back then Villari's was known as a Blackbelt machine.

They had me wear a white belt so video taping would be impossible. I got consoled for my ego. "ah, grasshopper".

Fred Villari has or had something like 80 schools in the new england area. His biggest producers were rewarded with corvettes and trips to Hawaii. The way it was presented to me, is that he taught the Ed Parker system. Inside Kung Fu or Black Belt did a full cover spread on him. It was call "Champ of the Chomps". Fred also was a mormon.

A great saturday night live skit would be, a mormon, an amway, a mary kay, and fred villari's black belt/distributor/missionary all get together and try to get each other to drink their kool-aid.

It is your right to believe you can determine an art based on two lessons a week for a few weeks. I am not satisfied in believing this after 8 lessons.

To all others, it is obvious this forum and thread are not for me. As a true student of the arts I respect all arts, students and instructors, whether I like the style or not. I wish you would all do the same. If it wasn't for you then sorry to hear that and best of luck finding your dojo:

My girl friend started there about 8 months ago for the most part it is good for her we were having comunication problems don't get this wrong I was ass about some thing and could of done things a lot different so she did a women's self defense class she liked it so she started regular class the first day zach tells them all I'm here for you to vent and listen and to show you how to get out your frustrations in a positive manor she must of loved that since she couldn't talk to me so time goes bye I'm not stupid I new that she would have feeling for some one at class trusted her not to act on them she would vent to zach about us and not tell me how to fix our problem in return zach played it like a fiddle he told her one day after class he had feelings for her then I noticed a big difference in her attitude we still did not communicate well July 28th after that he face booked her in this is what pissed me off when I found out he said I don't see you happy with him and she fell for it he has dated students befor I found out we are not together now because one night she came home from class at 930 and I just new something wasn't wright I did some thing stupid I gave her the altamadem of me or karate mind I knew nothing about these talks they had I found out one day later after she chose karate and left that night she really started dateing him it sucks cuz we talk more now about things but he fooled her in to thinking he awesome this was a month ago I really think he abused his power and is not a true teacher and really thought that when I read your post I now know a lot about him and I new befor I read your post I feel the same way spoon fed punk kid he can only meet girls at the dojo and she is probably the hottest one there but like I said I could of done things different but he drove the wedge and played on her emotions

I wouldn't pay $20 for a trial lesson from anybody. Untrained noobs crowding up his floor space taking a free lesson to see if they want to sign up is HIS marketing overhead, not yours.

personally I beleive you should challege bullshit where you find it. A true teacher shouldn't be upset and be quite willing to show you why and how at any time.

I believe that the gym is a learning environment and asking questions is part of the learning experience. If I am watching a technique being demonstrated and I see a huge hole in it (especially if I see it cause I suck and if I can see it well yeah) I feel comfortable asking the question in a respectable manner.
