Why do Australians like AFL more than this!?

    #2
    That's frickin' awesome!

The rules explained, from one of the Youtube comments:

    Bo-Taoshi (or pole pull-down)

    - capture-the-flag-like game, played by cadets at National Defense Academy of Japan

    - two teams of 150 each vie for control of a single large pole

    - 75 attackers, 75 defenders per team

    - defenders begin in a position to protect to their own pole

    - attackers start at a position a distance away from other teams pole

    - a team is victorious if it is able to lower the pole of the opposing team to a 30 degree angle respective to the ground before the other team

While watching the video it seemed to simulate Japan's treatment of the rest of Asia during WW2.

What's with the guy on the top of the pole?

I like the innovative tactics in this video:

Look how they form a mega flying wedge at 1:47 so that they have a big scrumming unit which serves as an attacking platform, literally, for the runners coming in at 1:50.

          Smart.

This is why I love the Japanese. Japan is full of order, beauty, wonder -- and batshit crazy.

Because the AFL is a professional league with marketing and televised matches and you can talk to your mates about it. This is just some Japanese people being [strikethrough]odd.[/strikethrough]
                awesome.

From the comments on the video.

"The team that makes the most non-asian people spend the most possible time trying to guess what are the rules wins the game."

If there is a BS botaoshi throwdown it should begin in Australia and all you rednecks can fly down to do it. Finders keepers.

This is my new favorite sport.

Aussie rules football rulez also. Like Rugby, those guys are m3an characters at play. I'm way too fragile to play either sport. Soccer FTW.

Haha, nah you only play Aussie rules if your more interested in wearing short shorts and showing off your decorative arm tattoos than playing footy! But I guess it was created by the crumpet munching cricket types as an excuse to "keep fit" during winter.
