Thanks for the advice, Tae Bo Master! :)
Yeah, I was thinking of doing something like that.

May I suggest that, since you're young, just focus on wrestling for the time being? Wrestling is an excellent base. It'll get you into tremendous shape, will teach you perhaps the best fundamentals you can possibly learn as far as takedowns, control, and positioning are concerned.
Chances are good that you'll be better off focusing on perfecting this one skill, rather than spreading yourself thin.

TheFree87, I know I'm probably making people think that I'm lazy and irresponsible.
But, I don't have a bike and an access to public transportation, and the closest Judo club (17 minutes from my home) is now working to get a new practice area, so they're unavailable right now. But, you're right in thinking I'm irresponsible; I haven't attempted to get a job or a driving learner's permit, yet, but I'll be correcting that immediately.

Where I'm from the most expensive Judo place is 90/month for five times a week, and if you go at least twice a week every fourth month is free. So I pay 67.50/month. The ones run out of the YMCA is like 40/month. I guess it might be a little more expensive in a big city.
Do you have a bike or access to public transportation? You might be able to get to these places yourself instead of dragging your mother all over the place. If you expect to train four times a week is your mother going to be able drive you? If you are truly interested take some responsibility for your training.Last edited by TheFree87; 7/22/2011 11:14pm, .

Fuck no. Stick with Wrestling, get good at it, keep up the weights, lift heavy but keep fit. Study hard , get a job, fund more training, become a beast!

Okay, thank you for the wake-up call. :)
I'll just stick to wrestling, weight lifting, studying hard for a full scholarship, getting a job, and saving money.

If you want me to elaborate any further, you got my hopes up with the wrestling and BJJ, but then decided that watching some videos with your buddys constitutes training when to be honest it just doesnt. You need someone better than you to physically show you techniques.
When I get shown anything new in Jiu-Jitsu, Judo or Wrestling, my first question is "Can you do it to me?" I need to know how a technique feels when done right.
What you are doing , and I dont mean to be too offensive, is totally pointless. Im not gonna lie, it'll be fun as hell, and you might even learn some good brawling, but technical fighting and technique?

Okay, so I'll just save up money for proper instruction. Thank you.

If money is an issue why are you willing to shell out a vast amount of cash to buy kit so you and your friends can watch some videos and play fight in your garage?

Yes, I was considering boxing.
Gidi, I agree with you on trying every free lesson I can, but my mother says that she can't afford to waste gasoline on aimlessly driving to gyms/schools that are at least 25 minutes away from my house. But, I will definitely stick to wrestling.
By the way, I know this is taboo for you guys, but I was considering Burton Richardson's distance learning program for JKD and Kali.
This is the link: http://jkdunlimited.com/
This program is heavily sparring-based rather than being good at compliant drills, and the video testing is a video of isolated sparring rounds. I was thinking of buying the necessary equipment like headgear with a cage, groin protector (Can someone give a sizing chart for those?), MMA gloves, shin-guards (Can someone give me a sizing chart for them?), focus mitts (Are Thai pads better?), mouth-guard, kicking shield, padded sticks, rattan sticks, aluminum knife trainers, and a mat (Can I just substitute it with grass?) and get a couple of friends to train with me everyday, at least an hour a day. Can you read his stuff and watch his videos? I would like to know of your opinions.

You might also consider Boxing.
From what I read here, a boxing membership is usually quite cheap and it's both an excellent MA and a hell of a workout.
One more point, I don't think your Mom is right here.
Go and try every free lesson you can, some place's price might surprise you, others might offer you a good deal, if they like you and think you're gonna actually be worth the work.
And if they don't, you haven't lost anything other than some time, which you haven't actually lost, cause time spent learning is never a waste.
Besides, it'll give you more info for comparison with other gyms, so you can make a more intelligent decision when you finally make one.
Last point, you're on a very good start with the HS wrestling program, stick with that.
