Dave Kovar / selectmartialarts.com promo videos

I thought there would be a thread on this topic, but I could not find it.

There are many martial arts schools using these videos. They are all the same, except for they begin with Dave Kovar giving an endorsement of the school.

    Here are some samples:

    and the whole list

People should know what they are seeing doesn't represent the school that they are actually going to.

Are you sure this isn't licensed material? The schools that use this could affiliated, or pay a licensing fee so they get this generic karate video link page to use on their website.

My problem is that the video portrays the people in the video as belonging to that school. They give glowing testimonials that aren't real. Its unethical even if it is licensed .

Is this the Cobra-Kai of the future. Hey, at least I now know where to go for my BB in marketing.

One can argue that they are actually trumpeting the benefits of Karate not of the particular school. Notice how they are talking about Karate...not Karate at the specific schools.

I heard the words "Martial arts" so many time in those videos, that it began to cease having any meaning. It was like when you say a word over and over again and forget where it starts and ends.

I think it just provides an online marketing piece for small MA studios that looks professional and offers a 2 week trial. Parents love that type of stuff. It's not like they are marketing MMA training...we're talking about kids karate here...I just think it needs more kids doing thunder kicks...then it would be perfect!
