Door-to-Door karate salesman. a touching story.

    I'm not joking.
There are a bunch of guys like this in Australia.
So today, i get a knock on the door by this pretty large guy. (shorter and fatter than me).

The first thing he asks me is: "Have you ever been afraid for your life?"

This is the sort of question that requires a week long answer or none, so I keep my mouth shut.

Then he asks me: "Have you ever heard of Karate?"
I decide to be a douche and say no.
This was actually pretty hilarious. He asks me if I have a few minutes of my time, and I figured that it's not every day that you get to ridicule a ninjer to their face, so I invite him in for a coffee, and we spend the next 30 minutes with him recounting his former 'war' stories in which Karate has saved his life, explaining how it has taught him to be "READY FOR ANY------"

At this point I pushed his chair over backwards, and he cracked his head on the side of my Kitchen table, knocking him out cold.
I did my best to revive him, and he asked me what happened.
I told him that he was leaning back on his chair and slipped.

I think he knew I was lying, and he picked up his bags, shook my hand and said that he'd be happy to see me down at his Dojo.

Needless to say, I haven't gone down.

    His organisation:

Sochin has done a fair bit of investigatory work on the GKRers.

This 'Martial Arts' organisation seems more similar to a financial pyramid scheme than a sports organisation.

It is. From recollection of his threads, they sell door-to-door in a pyramid scheme, their instructors are hired despite a lack of credentials (I believe they advertise this) and they have a fairly strict "no contact" rule.

EDIT, just a quick google search, Happy Reading!

"Have you ever been afraid for your life?"

          "No"

          "Would you like to be?"

Haven't had one come to my door yet. I know about GKR though, I don't care about how they train, etc. That's for people to decide for themselves. But I dislike their pyramid type scheme.

And yes I laughed my arse off at this story.

Any large stranger who's opening gambit on my doorstep is "Have you ever been afraid for your life?" is getting removed from my property with a heavy spanner and a sensation of suddenness.

Exactly. Its almost like a threat, I would kick him in the head.

If I had steps I would yell something about sparta and teep him in the chest.

Then ask him if he was scared.

I'd treat them like I do Mormons. Invite them in and have an in depth discussion on why my belief system could never be shaken by a blind adherence to years old dogma that was possibly mistranslated and most definitely misunderstood. I'd go on to challenge their belief system and their first utterance of "you just have to have faith" earns a sharp rebuke and a clear path to the door.

Pulling one out at this point would be a great response.
