Eddie Bravo/10th Planet BJJ Belt list

    Hi all,

Anyone know if there's a central list or database of BJJ belts given by Eddie Bravos? Or how would be the best way to authenticate any claims?

He's only given out a small number of Black Belts, should be easy to trace. You can just call and ask, this is off the 10th planet headquarters webpage.
ADDRESS 5176 Santa Monica Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90029 Phone: 323-665-5856 Contact: Eddie Bravo

This is not the appropriate place for this question.

MABS are for allegations and investigations of bullshit martial arts practitioners, not for your inane and easily answered questions.

As mentioned, from my understanding there aren't many of them so it is easy to verify. If you have a specific question about someone I can also ask a good friend of mine who is a blue belt under Eddie and teaches 10th planet (along with BJJ).

As far as i'm awaire Eddie Bravo has only ever promoted 1 guy to Black.

Denny Prokopos who runs 10th Planet San Fran.

Scott "Einstein" Epstein is an Eddie Bravo BB (there might also be others, I don't follow it that closely) but I believe Denny was the first.

This would most likely be a good start.

You will see many of the locations that are official 10th planet places are not run by black belts.
While their certainly are legitmate buisness reasons to not be a 10th planet affiliate if you are a Eddie Bravo BB I would be a bit suspicious as to why they are not.

Sean Bollinger is a 10th planet black belt too. He was the second.

                    1. It's not such an inane and easily answered question - most lineages of BJJ have a route of authentication, usually online and there doesn't seem to be one for 10P, or none that shows up on normal google searches anyhow.

                    2. The reason for this question is exactly because of an allegation/investigation of a local bullshit martial arts practitioner. But before I make any allegations I'm simply trying to understand whether Eddie Bravo has given a brown belt to someone who has never competed in BJJ/was a white belt before/has never met E.B/has only trained 3 hours of supervised BJJ in his life that I'm aware of (10P seminar)... Or whether the person in question is just claiming to be a brown belt under Eddie Bravo. Either way, there's some BS to be uncovered.

I hope this explains the reason for the question.

If what you say is true than you already know he is not a brown/black or anything under E.B.

Thanks Goodlun, it appears they're not an official affiliate.

Yes please Iain - can you ask your friend what the criteria are for a 10th Planet brown belt?

                          Much appreciated.

You could just post in Bravo's forum or ask him on Twitter or even email him, if you're feeling old school.

In any case, your post was moved to where it should have been. My issue was more with your phrasing than anything else.

Hopefully you do get enough information, from what you've said it soumds like there is some serious issues with this instructor.

I would contact 10th Planet directly, they should have a stake in this if someone is misrepresenting their training.
