I'm amazed this stayed out of bullshido. Also, anyone who's ever even stood on a skateboard knows that losing massive amounts of skin hurts like a bitch but does not incapacitate.

You need to learn it. You dont need to be a black belt; but you need it. However alot sport juijitsu is pretty impractical on the street. its also pretty damn impractical when your a blue belt and the guy attacking you is any rank higher. thats why you need to cheat. if i was put in an armbar I would bite. If i was in an RNC i would bite or eye gouge, especially if i see his buddies comin to kick my face in or my opponent is clearly better than me ie I couldnt escape. Seriously, real fights are even more violent than mma matches soley because, in a bar fight or street attack, i may go home under a white sheet. and it happens. I dont want that to happen, so ya know what my paradigm is? Get as good at bjj as I can, and then figure out ways that make size skill and strength moot points, because there will always be someone better than you at BJJ, but no one can desensitize there eyes or groin or not pull away as I bite through their limb
If you have you in an armbar your arm is broke. Your arm is broke AND I will continue doing very nasty things to you for biting me. If I have you in an RNC you will NOT be eye gouging me I gaurntee it. If by some chance you catch my forearm and bite I am either breaking or dislocating your jaw.
And FYI you are not strong enough to bite through a limb lager than a finger/toe (shut up the rest of you. You know what I mean!)
I proved all this at an earlier Throwdown years ago where I let a member attempt to bite his way out of an armbar and choke. He failed.
Keep in mind you never want to escalate the level of violence in a fight that ou are already losing.______

You can't practice Judo just to win a Judo Match! You practice so that no matter what happens, you can win using Judo! The key to fighting two men at once is to be much tougher than both of them.

I will never understand why people believe rolling on something other than a mat makes BJJ useless. I have rolled on concrete before. For some reason I also regularly roll on marble floor every time my friends and I get together for a UFC. It is uncomfortable, but unless you are fighting a wrestler or Judoka (or MMA practitioner), the hardness of the ground is not something you need to worry about much at all, and if the other person knows nothing about groudwork, they're the ones who have to worry about the ground, not you.

The guy in the original video explaining why grappling is bad is Todd Keuneke. Recently I was looking at a couple big JKD guy's face book pages and noticed him posting on their walls, in all caps, that he tried to join the Larry Hartsell grappling association or something. And was apparently ripped off for twenty dollars, lol? He then went on to call Larry Hartsell's wife some unflattering comments.
It's safe to assume hes trying to learn grappling now but doesn't have the balls to walk into a BJJ gym.
