Don't get MMA gloves dude, get MMA sparring gloves that have like 12/16oz padding. MMA gloves are almost useless for training purposes, we use them sometimes but we barely make any contact with the strikes, its mainly to get used to wearing them and how they affect grappling.

JJB sports are doing crappy grappling gloves at this very moment. I held off buying them as I thought they would be utter poo but the person teaching me grappling at the moment reckons they are ok for my purposes (i.e. thoe odd bit of MMA practice).

Ah, thanks. Given what DM has said I might grab some heavier gloves from sportsworld though, would like to get my ass kicked at mma rules sparring at some point though. All I've got atm are these bad boys http://www.blitzsport.com/prodinfo.asp?number=42-01 for tkd sparring, which I prob won't bring.

Yeah thats a point, what equipment will their be. I at the moment have none. Just a gi, shorts and a mouth guard (which I ruined and is now rubbish). Actually I have some fingerless cotton (padded) mits which are pretty good for grappling in, very very light though. Used them for my karate sparring years ago.

I have a gi, 16 oz box gloves, 12oz box gloves, 3oz mma gloves, shin pads, headguards and in theory my bullie shorts should've arrived by then. I'm probably gonna bring all of that except the gi.

I have 14oz gloves, box, slip on type shin gaurds, mouthguard. I won't be bringing a gi.

Are we confirmed whether it's Saturday/Sunday yet? If it's Sunday, I can probably make it, competitions notwithstanding. Saturday I have work. Sniff. For someone who has expressed an interest in throwdowns before, I really need to get off my backside and go to one. ^_^
