You guys seemed to have different stick fighting styles, I'd like to know what syles you're drawing from.

The exchange near the end was a nice little blitz.

Brian is a filipino martial arts man, I am using german longsword/messer concepts. Some of it translates well to stick, some of it doesnt due to the lack of guards and much shorter weapons.

That is amazing . Not a single one of those videos "sucked" . Great job sorry, I am sorry I missed it . I swear it won't happen again .

I cant wait to get down there and throw some hands .

                    Ja, what Anna said..

I do largo mano arnis (relatively "long" and "hard" compared to most FMA).
Next time I will bring goggles and you can see what it looks like with
                    deliberate headshots thrown in.

Also we usually do more "defang the snake" to the hand.. but those gloves..
                    UGH.

It *is* encouraging that people can see a style difference (as opposed to
                    the individual attitude)...

We generally don't wear gloves when we spar with brians sticks, but I suffered a broken finger in early september doing a similar activity and it was a bit of a wakeup call that if i want to compete in combat sports some day i need to watch my hands.

I just got around to watching these, holy crap. This is easly one of the better Throwdowns. Way cool.

Also, I imagine AnnaT would wreck about 90% of the people here. I think I'm going to go do some pushups now haha.

Thanks Phrost, I appreciate that, I was a bit worried, especially after the recent megathread bitching about suckass throwdown videos.

                            Verry impressive guys... props...

EDIT (after watching more): Esp AnnaT. I've never seen a girl spar like that other then in professional fight videos. You take it like a man (forgive the expression) and basically owned most of your competion (esp against that John guy who prolly outweight you by a good 30-40 pounds). I hope future vids of mine can match up to this stuff...

Thanks, I actually didnt take all that many hard hits, John caught me pretty hard with his right early on in my first match and I decided that slipping was the order of the day ;)

Though if you look at the 2:52-2:56 Second mark then you'll see him crack me in what looks like the face with an extremely hard knee. Luckily it actually hit the sternum and didnt hurt that much at the time, though the next day and about for about 2 days afterwards I thought my sternum might have been cracked (it still hurts a little, but that first day after was pretty bad).

                              Good stuff!
