We can roll, it's been dead for me on Sunday, but I'll be switching to a different/better timeslot once we move into the new building (expecting december, hopefully/maybe).
I would love to. This sunday is no good as my wife is forcing me to go to the state fair.

    God help me.

I do some krotty with them too, but I don't think sparring little kids while walking around on my knees was what you had in mind.

Post-december I might have class on Sat, but I'm trying to keep it as seperate from Judo time slots as possible, because students can do both instead of one for +$20 now.

I want to go to the State Fair, but Ruth won't take me. She says it's super-redneck, but I read Charlottes Web in gradeschool and it seemed pretty awesome then, so I think I'm right.

It is super-redneck!!! But it's AWESOME!!!

At least most of the people aren't armed. You should check out the Dixie Gun and Knife show! Now that's scary!

Nothing wrong with watching a family of four eat 5 KRISPY KREME BACON CHEESEBURGERS WITH A SIDE OF FRIED OREOS!!!! Seriously, I witnessed this exact event happening last saturday. Hopefully they all went and rode The Zipper for a few hours afterwards.

So, I lurked on BS for 6 months and just started posting recently. Can newbies attend throwdowns? I've done hapkido for a while and have recently started some judo/grappling at my current school and would love to see some BJJ guys roll and maybe get the chance to get tied into a pretzel.

Assuming I'm allowed, will there be any larger guys? I'm 23, 6'3", 250 lbs. and in reasonable shape.

Holy crap, a big'un! Where do you train at now?

                Everyone
is most welcome to attend, all skill levels, ages, sizes, etc. Bring your friends, the more the merrier! These are friendly, completely free form events where basically you find someone who's willing to do whatever you have in mind (grappling only, striking only, MMA (UFC rules), etc) at whatever intensity level for however long, and you go at it. The only real rule we require is that people doing anything involving medium-ish and up level striking contact (and probably competition intensity grappling) have someone from the "core" NC group of bullies or one of Jas's senior students ref the match as a safety measure.

As a side note, this particular TD is going to be slightly different that what we usually do, due to the impending deathmatch and also having some bullies from out of state show up. I was thinking about maybe us having one of our 'normal' get-togethers in mid-late Nov or early Dec just for grins, so keep an eye out for another TD thread in this sub-forum.

I train in Raleigh at a primarily-TKD school. Our HKD program is growing nicely though with more big dudes signing up every month. Our instructor has started adding some Yudo (i know, wtf is yudo) and basic grappling skills into HKD class and it seems to be going real well. It is awesome to be able to grapple at medium-full speed with ppl who are enthusiastic about learning!

If you have more questions about the school, PM me plz. Not quite sure I want to fully out myself/my school publicly since I tend to be kindof a jackass over the internet and I'm pretty well vested into the TKD community in the Triangle.

This "deathmatch" you refer to is going to be quite interesting. I started lurking right around the time that all the DanBo/WhiteKimbo/dick:icon_cheemeasuring started and just finished re-reading the gong sau thread in "the basement". Hopefully everyone can be civil afterwards though, no need for people to carry their e-hate into RL.

As for a Nov/Dec mini-td, i am totally down. I'm fighting in a TKD tourney the first weekend in Nov, but other than that my schedule is pretty open and I'd love to meet some NC bullies.

I can host an opening sparring mat day, a mini-TD, but nothing bigger, based on the school schedule. I think it would probably be Nov 14th, Sunday, during my regular times (12-3 pmish). Would that interest people?

YES! And I'll try to bring a coworker who wrestled at state for 2 yrs and does HKD with me now. I did a stint at Carolina and always love coming back to CH.

Okay, I will confirm we are good this weekend. Got to check in with my crew and see if there is enough interest.

There's a good chance I won't be making it to this since there's a muaythai tournament in Omaha I'd really like to go to mid February

I'll be there like the Jackson 5.

Except without the afros. And without the child molesting brother. And without the violent dad.

                                Hmmm...

Never mind about the Jackson 5.

                                I will attend.
