    The Wii Fit thread...

    Salutations,

Some of you may remember (who am I kidding - you won't remember) a whining thread about me being a little bit poorly. Bless me.

One of the residual effects of this illness is that my balance doesn't seem as good as it was prior to the illness.
Check ups with the doctor haven't revealed anything sinister, but I'm definitely not as well-balanced as I was.

For Christmas, I was purchased a Wii Fit, which has balance training.
It's pretty ok. I don't think they're that scientific, but I'd swear my balance is a shade better.
    Placebo?

Better still are the yoga exercises... They've highlighted postural stuff I was totally unaware of. I would never have thought of yoga as an option (I know Teh El Macho has recommended yoga before, but we don't have hot, sexy yoga over here... we have old lady yoga), but I'm considering it now.

So, anyone else use the Wii Fit?
Anyone getting any benefit from the other stuff on there?
Any horror stories from using it?

We got a Wii, and I played with the Wii Fit over the holidays at a relative's house. We'll definitely get one ourselves too.

The balance thing was pretty nifty but I'm not so sure how well it translates over to combat sports. I am looking forward to doing the yoga, and the BMI/weight tracker is swanky as all hell.

I wouldn't rely on it to get you in shape, but there are much worse ways of wasting time playing video games.

How long before we get deluded individuals claiming to have learned real martial arts on wiifit?

As goofy as it sounds, I worked up a pretty good sweat with the boxing matches/drills. No replacement for hitting my bag, but it's like interactive shadow boxing. My kids like it and it sure beats the hell out of the sit and stare games.

One of my friends tells me I'm going to make a great dad simply because my puns are bad. Is there really a correlation?

Are you a good dad Phrost?

We got a Wii for Christmas and I've been doing the boxing game on Wii Sports every morning. So . . . . I'll let you know how long it takes.

Stop posting about your daughter on here, Phrost. It just makes me want to steal her and keep her for myself.

Yes. The BMI and weight thing is very accurate, and quite tactless. Bastards.

I like the fact there is stuff on there that I can see the potential benefit of, but would no way, evarrrr, be seen doing in public. *coff.the.hula.hoop.is.awesome.coff*

We've had one since it came out. My wife injured her back training and was piling on the pounds so she insisted on one. It's helped her a lot with her back problem and also helped to shake the weight she gained from being almost immobile.
Really does help your balance, I recommend them to everyone but people (martial artists) just look at you funny and shake their heads.
Just wait for the kata game.:sad11:

My wife's been wanting to get the Wii Fit to try it out.....maybe I should but it.
