So, in short, commonly used drugs, even those given to children can be more dangerous, according to these statistics, than ephedrine and caffeine.
Context is everything. Fluoxetine is a anti-depressant.

What happens when you are depressed and suddenly you realize it and try to get help? Your entire world spins because you no longer have any idea what thoughts are your own and what is caused by the depression. This is before the Fluoxetine kicks in, because that takes a few weeks.

That's why you have higher suicide rates when people are on anti-depressants. Right after you start your world gets turned around and it can push you over the edge. That doesn't mean the drug is bad.

Hell, Marijuana is on there. Care to guess whether that's because someone OD'd on it or whether they decided to drive or some shit while high?

Did 4 mg (half-pill) of Ephedrine about 20 min or so before working out. Forgot to take it on the way to the gym, seems like 30 min is best before really feeling anything besides thirstiness. Bring extra water next time to counter the effects of ephedrine.

I must have worked out over 2 hours. I really felt a difference with the ephedrine, not a massive one but there clearly was a difference. Actually 'worked' during compared to creatine, which bloated me, made me tired but did help me recover noticeably faster.I think that 4 mg may be safe for a later evening class but 8mg might affect me too much. I'll probably try a 4 mg in the evening class and 8 mg next Saturday if I train then.
    From my training log.
I'm 185 lbs. Should drink more water while doing it. No abnormal heart rate. Coming down wasn't bad, I was pretty tired the whole day anyways.

Guys we need to look at things in perspective here. Every society needs a bogeyman (or men) and ephedrine seems to fit the bill. The original post in this thread quotes an article stating something to the effect of the Tour de France was littered with bodies from stimulants. Littered with bodies???? I don't recall seeing that. In regards to another post that contained a link for the recipe for crystal meth. The recipe calls for psuedoephedrine not ephedrine. They are not the same and in fact psuedoephedrine is a common ingrediant in over the counter cold medications. Listed below are some stats from 2000 that show emergency room visits caused (in the eyes of the emergency room doctor) from drug abuse.

"According to the DAWN (Drug Abuse Warning Network) Detailed Emergency Department Tables of 2000, ephedrine seems to be very safe when compared to other drugs. These numbers reflect the number of mentions each drug received in regard to emergency room visits. Here's a quick list:

Drug Name - Number of Mentions

    Acetaminophen (Tylenol) - 33,613

    Alcohol-in-combination - 204,524

    Ibuprofen (Advil) - 17,923

    Aspirin - 15,657

    Fluoxetine (Prozac) - 7,938

    OTC sleep aids-Sominex/Nytol - 6,609

    Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) - 6,270

    Naproxen (Aleve) - 5,080

    Caffeine - 1,674

    Chlorpheniramine/aspirin - 1,116

Pseudoephedrine - 948 (A decongestant used in every cold/sinus formula around)

    Ephedrine - 1,057

According to the DAWN Annual Medical Examiner Data of 1999, ephedrine seems to be much safer than many of the commonly used drugs. These numbers reflect the number of deaths per year in which a medical examiner mentioned the drug as a possible cause of death.

    Fluoxetine - 305

Dextromethorphan - 132 (Used in MANY cold formulas as a cough suppressant)

Chlorpheniramine - 117 (Also used in many cold and sinus formulas as an antihistamine)

    Pseudoephedrine - 67

    Ephedrine - 59

I used the original Zenedrine and can attest that the ECA stack works. I dropped alot of weight with it at the time, but like all things that work it has the potential to fuck you up. Start slowly, increase dosage gradually and cycle it. Things to watch out for:

1- Total caffeine intake, meaning DON'T drink coffee and soda while taking it, the stack already has more then enough caffeine in it. If you can't go without your espresso then scale back your caffeine dosage.
2- It's mildly addictive (especially due to the caffeine) and when you cycle off it you will have a day or two of withdrawals (headache, mild nausea, etc)
3- If you feel any adverse effects (especially tings like tachycardia and constant nausea) discontinue immediately, it's not for you.

Like steroids it works but it's not for everybody and abusing it can kill you.

Yeah, I used to take Ripped Fuel and Stacker II's all the time, they were great, curbed appetite and really just gave you some extra juice. I wasn't trying to cut weight, I usually would take them to stay up and study, but they also made you sweat a lot. I definitely felt more energetic and motivated when I was working out or rolling, too. Loved those little guys. When I heard they were taking them off the market I went and bought a whole shit ton at the local GMC. Lasted me a couple more years. Alas, they are no more. You can still get Ephedrine in expectorants, but it's not the same. I miss Ripped Fuel.

However, I would take one, just one. I knew guys that were taking like six, and then taking more later. I can see how this could lead to some health problems. Everything in moderation. If you take six times the recommended dose for anything, you're stupid.

Oh, and they were great for late night beer guzzling. Drinking a little slow, one too many blunts maybe? Pop a Ripped Fuel. Sets you straight.

This thread is making me nostalgic.

.........ephedra is a controversial stimulant linked to death, heart attacks, strokes, seizures, and many other adverse ephedrine side effects. There are now 100 reported deaths from ephedrine products and safety reviews in the U.S. have been ordered to assess the dangers. The FDA has been unable to regulate ephedra products because of the 1994 federal law allowing the stimulant to be exempted from federal regulation due to its classification as a food.

A medical examiner announced Tuesday that Baltimore Orioles pitcher Steve Bechler, who died Monday after collapsing during a spring training workout, was taking the dietary supplement Xenadrine, which contains the herb Ephedra. Ephedra has been linked to heatstroke and heart trouble in numerous cases.

Ephedra use is banned by the International Olympic Committee, the NFL and the NCAA, but not yet by Major League Baseball. Yet if this herb is so dangerous, why would anyone consider taking it?

The negative effects of ephedrine are well-described. They include abnormal heartbeats, hypertension, stroke and heart attack due to constriction of coronary arteries. Ephedrine has been associated with heart muscle damage in several medical case reports. This is likely due to overstimulation of the heart muscle cells, a phenomenon that was discovered with adrenalin years ago. Heart attacks, strokes and sudden death have been found in people taking ephedrine.

People can cry all they want, 5 people in the US died out of tens of millions who take it.

Thats a better ratio then some foods.

And the main reason why ephedra work isn't because it it speeds your metabolism up so fast that it just burns off fat. It's that it makes you not hungry and then you eat less you fucking tards.

Ephedrine is one of the main ingredients for crystal methamphetamine. (http://www.totse.com/en/drugs/speedy_drugs/165183.html)
It is a powerful stimulant that will probably be a controlled substance in the near future. Right wrong or indifferent.

The two big "problems" with ephedrine are the amounts people are taking and what they do right after taking it. The longer you take it the more you have to take to achieve the desired results. Most people will eventually take more than the recommended dosage. Many people will exercise right after taking it. When you combine a dramitic increase in heart rate and body temperature with extreme physical exertion then sometimes you get dead.

    All things in moderation.

Things that are safe for some people, aren't safe for others.
Ephedra as a sports supplement has a higher than normal case of negative reactions.
Doesn't mean its dangerous for everyone.

I don't see what the big deal is though, there are some really good fat burners on the market in the US that are free of the stuff (and advertise it in big bold letters).

I use an ECA (Ephedra, Caffine, White-willow bark [asprin substitute]) stacker, but only reccomended dosages, it has a FUCKING WARNING saying not to, so people get what the get if they break the dosages. It's there for a reason, any higher is DANGEROUS...oh well, It's helping me drop some much needed to drop kilo's and it's motivating me to exercise more as well. I dont think there is anything wrong with them if used the way it says...

Harvard university did a study which showed that Ephedra compounds are safe and effective for wt loss if used properly.
The problem is with people taking too much. Its not the only solution to wt loss but can be a userully adjuct. Its like driving a car to fast. So should we ban cars. Most of this hype is just another pretence for Attorneys to file class action lawsuits and make a lot of bucks at they expense of your personal freedom to choose.
