    Breakfast is killing me.

Jesus Christ. I was about to go train today at 10am. Just got done eating breakfast. Usually, I'll eat something with some meat and/or cheese in it, to get that "full" feeling. But I always have less stamina in morning classes than evening classes. Coach said it's because of my diet. I need to eat something lighter. So today I ate a slice of bread with some tomatoe on it, a nectarine, and half a muffin, and some chocolate milk. And now I feel like I'm about to throw up.

What they hell should I eat for breakfast before training?

Note: I usually eat dinner before evening classes. Like, class will be at 5:30pm, so I'll eat something at 4:00pm. I'll be fine. But morning is my bane. I hate it...

How much time do you have between eating and training? I'd think you want to eat breakfast bu not train with a full feeling.

You are a nocturnal insectivore mammal. That's why you don't have stamina in the mornings.

Seriously though. I don't buy the argument of having a lighter breakfast. At least for me, there is no way I could function with a slice of bread and tomatoes (I hope it was whole wheat bread. If it was white bread, you have to kill yourself for that sin.)

Tomatoes are a tricky thing when eating raw in the morning. If they aren't fresh, they may give stomach problems for some people. I always saute mine with a bit of seasoned salt just in case.

Usually what exactly do you eat in the morning? The lightest I would eat would be a large bowl of kashi go-lean cereal and plenty of whole milk yogurt on it. But usually, I eat three whole eggs, scrambled with tomatoes and mushrooms (or bean sprouts - mung beans+adzuki beans+lentils), cream cheese and two small pita breads. That makes it up to 500 cal minimum... more if I add chicken or beef to it.

For some people meat is too heavy in the morning, so maybe eggs are a good compromise for a heavy breakfast in the mornings. I really don't believe in eating light for breakfasts, specially when going to school. No way.

Maybe your gut is all fucked up and lacks the healthy bacteria to digest. Try yogurt, plenty of it.

It could also be that you are not sleeping well, or you have some vitamin/mineral deficiency shit going on. Are you taking up enough iron. Being anemic can also mess you up in the mornings.

I dunno, I just don't subscribe to eating light in the morning. If there is one meal one should never miss is breakfast IMO.

I used to train jujutsu first thing in the morning (5:30am) which didn't leave a lot of time between waking up, eating breakfast and training. Usually I'd have something small, quick and light- a banana, a protein shake, some cereal, some oatmeal, etc.

Just something to get a little bit of energy for training. I'd usually have more food afterwards.

In my experience, eating meat and cheese before training would mess with my cardio. Even eating too much crap and junkfood the night before would make things harder the next morning.

2 raw organic free range vegetarian fed eggs blended with some whole raw (unhomogonized unpasturized) organic milk and either some chocolate syrup or vanilla extract. This is what my nutritionist has me eating for breakfast.

Runningdog is barking up the right tree, Porridge or some Oaty equivalent will sort you out.

I normally don't eat breakfast, but if I was planning to train in the morning, I would probably just eat a banana in the morning and have a good lunch.

I was planning on eating left over chili. But then I thought "No, that's heavy. I'll eat something light, go train, come back, and then eat it." So much for that.

                    And it's Canadian Rye.

It could definately be the time. I get up at 8, start eating at around 8:20, get done at around 9, and am on the mat at 10. But it's now 10:30 and I still feel like a light jog would cause me to hurl.

I'll just have to get up earlier and eat something heavy, I guess.

How organic of you... sounds like an excellent breakfast for me.

[/quote]Plus, they would be painful to poop out.

Sometimes when I work out in the morning, I have a gatorade, a banana or a cup of coffee and whole milk (that shit makes me fart melodically). Anyways, immediately after workout, I'd have a myoplex shake or two egg mcmuffins.

I guess I should rephrase my first statement regarding breakfast. I will do my best to eat heavy (or at least moderate) within the first few hours after waking up. Doesn't have to be right after waking up, but certainly within the first 2 or 3 hours. And I'd try to eat at least three times by noon.

Ohhhhh, that could be it. Try the following. Get up at 7:40 and drink at least a glass of water. Eat around 8:20 as usual, and have some gatorade 30 minutes before you go to the mat.

When you are done, try to have another glass of water, wait a little, have a strong snack, like an egg mcmuffin or a whole wheat bagel with plenty of good'ol peanut butter (peanut butter is the shit!)

People don't use to drink plenty of water before eating. That leads to indigestion. Since you are rolling in the morning, you don't want to eat too heavy (see this thread why not.) I was under the impression that you were going off to school, but if you are rolling, then certainly you don't want to eat too heavy.

However, you do want to replenish yourself after mat time.

It could also be your overall diet. It doesn't matter if you eat well in the morning. If your diet throughout the day doesn't support your needs, a heavy breakfast won't do shit.

Canadian rye is good. You don't need to kill yourself then.

Dude, before school it's even worse. If I wake up early (like at 6 or so), it feels like my throat is just closed and food doesn't want to go through. It sucks ass. And this isn't due to a lack of sleep, I make sure to get enough. I've always had this problem, though.

My overall diet could use some help, but it's not super bad. In the evenings I generally have a lot more energy than in the morning, so I'm guessing I just need more time to get up to speed.

                            Canadian rye is awesome.
