Bas Rutten Fighting Fitness Workout Routine

Somebody on another forum posted this clip:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-Yn_evhBFM

Interesting "row" he makes with the dips apparatus, gotta try it someday.

Thought some of you may find this clip interesting.

    Thoughts? Comments? Opinions?

Not for the faint of heart I tell ya :)

    *** EDIT ***

I think the row exercises in the dip apparatus is just a way to warm up the lats without draining you (and thus you are able to continue with the other exercises.) It is not as draining as doing chin-ups, yet it should get the job done.

This is similiar to my "one minute madness" routine that I used to include a pryamid routine into. It basically involves the exact same thing except you go for 1 minute with each exercise for an hour straight hitting the full body. I was doing this easily about a year ago but am currently only good for about 30 minutes. Gotta get back in shape! I think an example of one workout is posted in my old training log on the BBC from 2004 or 2005. Bas looks a lot scarier than I do though. Must be the tight shorts...

Does it seem odd that he loads the EZ-curl bar asymetrically? The weights look like they are about even, but is there a point to this or is it just laziness?
Calm down, it's only ones and zeros.

Love the rows. I like to fall back on them whenever I've set a particular pullup goal for a workout but my arms crap out before I reach my goal.

Maybe he takes some of the plates off midway through and does uneven load exercises? Just a theory.

This is from his Extreme Pancrase video series. If you mean the part at about 2:45, I've seen those before. They've been called fat man chins, Dogg chins, all sorts of things. It mimics a chin-up from a different angle basically.

Aye, I find that strange too. I don't know if there is a benefit or hamr in that. I prefer to oad the bar as symetrically as possible, anyway.

Sheesh, they used to be the pizza delivery guys where I grew up.

Fun stuff in a deeply knuckleheaded sort of way. Same with Life of Agony and Type O Negative, all of whom came ou of the same scene in Brooklyn.

He might just not have enough weight of one type so he needs to compensate.

Depends. Both limbs are never exactly of the same strenght. Sometimes I may do a few more reps with my left arm when doing bicep curls to compensate, for example.

Also, somewhere (can't remember where, but I'll find the reference[s]), I read that it's a good think to work with slightly assymetrical weights (as long as you work both sides equally after the sets)

The idea is to force your body to remain balanced while responding to the instability of the assymetrical weights. In doing so, your body must use a lot more muscles to retain stability. The concept is similar to exercising with a stability ball... that would be my guess :eusa_thin
