    BJJ and golfer's elbow

Couldn't really find any existing posts specific to this.

I've been training fairly regularly (*usually* 2-3 times per week) over the last 4 - 5 years and recently, about 6 months ago I started developing some stinging, burning pain on the interior side at my elbow (both arms). I took about a month off and my right elbow seemed to get considerably better, but the left elbow has really been bothering me. Saw a DR and he's like, "yup, golfer's elbow". I'm 41 now, so I suspect age is partially to blame.

Anyone have any experience with healing up from this? It's really making life and training difficult. Just when I start to feel like I'm getting better, it seems to just start back over. I try to stretch my forearms, ice, massage, take glucosamine all to limited effect. Someone suggested Devil's Claw but I haven't tried that yet.

Anyone got any great stretches, exercises, supplement suggestions that might help out?

Osteo bi-flex, triple strength, take daily. Also, tap sooner on armbars. Honest advice, not trolling.
Consider for a moment that there is no meme about brown-haired, brown-eyed step children.

Take 6 months off.... pshh. Lol

        Good suggestions. Appreciate it.

I'll look into the osteo-biflex. I think my problem was just hanging on to bad grips, which I'm really focusing on trying to improve right now.

Ask your doctors to rule out an entrapped nerve causing radiating pain down both your arms.

          However, could just be overuse.

None of this is medical advice, check with your medical doctors.

I got that doing a manual labor job. I had to be really careful how I moved for a long while untill it went away.

Bjj exacerbated it. I think it was the gripping that did me. So I stopped gripping for a bit and kept really compact elbows and rolled a bit lighter.

Super grabby gloves worked a bit as well.

Yeah, Doc said it's purely gripping. The tendon that connects the fingers to the elbow is pulling loose. Scar tissue and inflammation ensue.

I thought about just taping my hand into a fist. Lol.
I suppose I really need to lay off for a while. Minimal rolling. :'(

I am not advising you to ignore the doctor’s advice to take a break.

However, some people wear a sock over their hand while they roll in those situations.

Not a bad idea honestly. As goofy as I'd look. Lol

The thing is that rolling and not grabbing might make you loose more often but it won't really make you shot. You will just be forced to make adjustments.

Even roll with boxing gloves on or something.
