Hello all: Looks like my friend is the only one posting. Ha. I (the ex student) have just been to an evening folk concert at a local coffee shop (like the dream, eerie) except bemused was there, with her husband, in real life, and there were no COL people other than former one bemused. She was with a folk group and band, with a pianist, guitarist, flutist and even a sax player. In real life! No but they were quite good and funny. She has come a long way since training and has found her purpose, helping women's shelters, real ones, not fake ones. At times we discussed our 'fearless leader' and 'the cult leader' as one in the same, and that the old name of the site 'Cultmaster' best described her.

And FS, I had a green tea. I can't drink milk. I also had tswo delicious chocolate chip cookies.

And bemused looked well and happy, actually much improved since having gotten over TYK's awful makeovers. :)

Indeed, I was hosting the release party for my second CD. It was a benefit concert for a local domestic violence agency at which I've been volunteering for the past few years. I was up there performing with my hubby and some of my favorite musician friends, having the time of my life. A few of my songs allude to the cultish period of my life, though not directly. I mostly sing about relationships and issues that matter to me.

It was great to see Kittyki again after all these years.

I'm pushing 50 and am no bikini model, but I feel happier, healthier, and more confident than I ever have. I'm pursuing my creative passion with some success, I'm married to the love of my life, I have an intellectually engaging day job, and I have lots of friends. Life is good.

I have a new theory about Kimmie. Before I've said that she shows signs of the Cluster B personality disorders: narcissistic, antisocial, histrionic, and borderline. But something else might be going on.

I've been reflecting on learning disabilities lately. I have a cousin who is dyslexic. Another friend may or may not have a learning disability, but he has always struggled with math. Although both of these people are responsible and ethical, there's a correlation between learning disabilities and criminal behavior. It could be that some kids with learning disabilities feel that they've been dealt a bad hand by life and take their frustration out on just about everybody.

Kimmie can't use an ATM or a computer. She has other people write for her, keep her schedule, manage her money, and so on. She seems to have three talents: martial arts, maintaining a showy personal appearance, and charming/manipulating people. I wonder if perhaps she has some sort of learning disability that, starting in her teens, she compensated for by manipulating other people into doing things for her. Then as time went on, controlling people became an end in itself.

Bemused, I would diagnose TYK as a sociopath as well as being a sadist. She certainly fits the deifinition of sociopath, and in my personal observations, a sadist.
Whenever she could determine what gave one of her students pleasure, she would do her damndest to deny that pleasure to them. In my case, I love tennis - so she tried to get me to give up tennis.
Most people have an attachment to their familiy members as well as their friends - so she tried to get them to break those ties. She was so effective in that tactic, that SHS among others came to think that their "family" resided in the small confines of her group of disciples, and probably continue to think so to this day. It was frightening and an awakening to me when SHS stated that he minimized his contact with the world "out there", and was only comfortable being with TYK et al. MBF also stated that those in the group were his friends...apparently he had detached from the outside world and had no friends outside of the group. Sad.....

Kimmie might have a learning disability, but that doesn't exclude the possibility (or very likely probability) that she's a sociopath as well. Psychologists refer to having more than one condition as co-morbidity.

In a way, sociopathy (called antisocial personality disorder these days) can be considered a learning disability. It's an inability to feel empathy or guilt, which leads to an inability to learn ethical conduct. Sociopaths used to be called "moral imbeciles."

I would add "Depraved Indifference to the Suffering of Others" to Kimmie's sterling qualities. I am not an authority on social norms by any measure, but her selfishness and ego gratification far exceed normal parameters.

I would not give her the 'excuse' of having a learning disability, Bemused. I'm sure she is fully capable of writing something herself, but chooses not to. She can get others to do that. Even the Way of the Warrior' videos mention her 'social and mental difficulties' so clearly she had something. but it's not excuse. She does ramp up her 'Korean speech' when she was flustered and plays everyone with a 'pity me party', until they turn and say, 'Oh no, we all like you'. or some other drivel. When she used to say she was going to leave, part of me said, fine. Go and leave. I will not stop you. The door is open.

FS and bemused, there are many ranges of mental disability and mental problems, including what used to be called sociopathic behavior, at work in TYK. But because she is fully aware of what she is doing to others, at least on a conscious level, it is not so obvious.

I'd say that from the vantage of having a retired psych nurse brother, aNDnd some minor research, that what she has is borderline personality disorder, where she is able to use it to manipulate others. She has even come to believe she is important somehow.

Although she is probably extremely lonely inside and demands others bow to her, she is content to have power in her inner circle and to make it look like she is the leader of a family, some kind of a mother goddess or maybe a mob Godmother, (like a Godfather) but without the actual violence mobs do.

Borderline fits her personality. The condition would even lead in some cases to mild schizophrenia, delusions of grandeur and various complexes.

Also she likely was abused by her drunken realtives and was involved in various other matters, but that is not an excuse. Once she came to the US she was no longer part of that world, and yet, she always turned back to how terrible or great Korea was depending on her mood.

She was a car salesperson and must have known something of the hard sell, and has been putting one over on her students for years.

Often people in cults pretend their deluded world is a family and they have no friends but those in their circle. They are likely very intelligent people who would claim not to be duped into such things, but end up suckered in because they are also lonely or easily modified. They are discouraged from relationships with those outside the group unless they intend to recruit new followers.

Even pyramid scams work like this. She knows about that. IDN and People's Network and the like. TYK is certainly clever and has been manipulating the followers for some time. Even SHS and MBF probably believe her totally and would fall on a figurative sword for her. They would be as guilty of things she did as she was.

And they would likely take the fall willingly if she actually got hauled off to jail for taxes or something. She would then play up her poor little me story and everyone would fall in line again and pay her bail.

KittyKi, there WAS violence and intimidation. Having a rock thrown through my window with an obscene note attached is violence in my estimation. According to Kathy Kim in one of her posts, quite a few years after they left Vermont they wanted to know where I lived so they could send someone to do damage to my car and continue to instill fear in me. TYK is pretty close to being a godmother if she can order people to do these things.

TYK has in fact TURNED both SHS and MBF into clones of herself - like a vampire's bite would do. They are now as guilty as she for any act and deed they commit.

I met killings as in 'violence mobs do'. Nobody has been offed. That's a good thing. Too bad nobody went to the police with that info at the time. What was that, 25 years ago? She hasn't done it since. Has she? Can you prove this to say some authorities? Kathy has some kind of special connection and for some reason got picked on more than anyone else. Not sure why. Maybe she knew too much.

The only thing that ever happened to me while I was training is a mistaken identity. Someone flattened one of my truck tires with a sharp object during class and after class, everyone heard about it, because it was one of those new '95 Dodge Ram trucks and it had new tires. They got the wrong student. I was loyal at the time and did not make waves. I was 24. I didn't think anyone at the school did it. Kathy mentioned then that some vandalism happened to her around that time, and I thought maybe the same vandals accidentally mistook my car for a bad student's car. But there was no way to prove anything. It was parked next to the police station and everything. Could have been someone thought it was a cop's car. I don't know. But the station was right across from the do jang and the truck out the window.

So it is also likely that the same fools did Kathy's car and then mine later. Could be it was just jerk kids. It wasn't far from a high school. Could be in her case it was just kids. In your case however, could be it was some of TYK's personal thugs.

FS, what was it like in the neighborhood of your do jang? Was it a good area? Was there a slim chance it could have been just jerk kids? Or did the culprit had the balls to sign his name on the brick? That would get his ass in jail, one would think.

The idea that TYK blatantly ordered her sycophants to knowingly discredit or vandalize others if messed up. That was the most shocking thing on the blog. The active students did not see her hissy fitas directly. I saw some of them toward the end of my tenure. But I'd lay odds that they're capable of it, judging by their insane comments in reply to you guys years ago, and that they were actively trying to off the cultmaster site (which they did) and pissed off San Jose (which they did) and Milpitas before that. The shady pyramid scams and the incidents of people losing millions were somewhat known to students, but were spun to make it look like they were something else.

They even made it sound like Kathy was going to off TYK once. She sas out of town! I remember that, not just her mentioning it on the blog, and that TYK had a fit about it in class. So there was this odd thing. I think she must have known too much from being in COL so they made up stuff about her.
