2007 Mundial BJJ World Championship RESULTS

Just in case anyone was interested, here is a link to the recently held 2007 Mundials.

    http://www.ibjjf.org/results/2007mundial.htm

Didn't Hedge say he was gonna roll in the blue belt division?

I saw the guy who won 2nd in the BB heavyweight division, Roberto Alencar, compete at a small comp here in Columbia maybe two years ago. Needless to say, he fucking cleaned house. Nobody was even close really.

I'd like to at least once be able to afford to travel to one of the big events and see true world class grappling.

So you're disappointed that only one student from your school placed in the WORLD Championships? You were expecting a clean sweep, perhaps?

Noob question - why are there 2 thirds in each category?

I'm just guessing here, but possibly because of the way tournament brackets work. Both Dude McGrapply and Bloke O'Grips were defeated in the semi-finals.

Bloke O'Grips? Guy Graberson? Dude McGrapply? I'm going for the long reach and say those are prime examples of extreme coincidence? :sad5:

usually the silver medal goes to the finals loser, and the bronze goes to the winner of the match between the two semifinals losers. the ibjjf decided not to have a third place match this year, so the two semifinals losers each get a bronze/third place. i'm assuming they did this just so they can speed up the pace of the tourney. there were over 2000 competitors.
