    *SPOILERS*UFC 146: Dos Santos vs Mir - May 26, 2012

UFC 146: Dos Santos vs Mir
    May 26, 2012
    MGM Grand Garden Arena
    Las Vegas, Nevada

Junior dos Santos vs. Frank Mir - Heavyweight Title Fight
Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva
    C.B. Dollaway vs. Jason Miller
Shane del Rosario vs. Stipe Miocic
    Lavar Johnson vs. Stefan Struve
    Dan Hardy vs. Duane Ludwig
    Roy Nelson vs. Dave Herman
    Jamie Varner vs. Edson Barboza
    Diego Brandao vs. Darren Elkins
Paul "Sassangle" Sass vs. Jacob Volkmann
    Glover Teixeira vs. Kyle Kingsbury
    Mike Brown vs. Daniel Pineda
Jason "Mayhem" Miller vs CB Dollaway

This fight card features an all-heavy weight main card with Frank Mir replacing Alistair "Oh is my performance enhancing drug test today" Overeem against UFC Heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos.

You may know Glover Teixeira as the one who had knocked out Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou in the WEC right before Sokoudjou went to Pride and upset Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Ricardo Arona.

Go Paul Sass! Next the UFC needs to set him up with a fight with Cody McKenzie.

Junior dos Santos vs. Frank Mir - Heavyweight Title Fight

Honestly, it doesn't really matter. This wasn't the fight I wanted to see but it is what it is. Maybe I'm just butt-hurt. Could use an anti-inflammatory...

Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva

Cain's wresting and cardio will probably allow him to take this.

    C.B. Dollaway vs. Jason Miller

Not a fan of Dollaway, but a fan of Miller. Hope he redeems himself for the Bisping fight.

Shane del Rosario vs. Stipe Miocic

I'm a fan of his Jiu-Jitsu from his last Strikeforce fight.

    Lavar Johnson vs. Stefan Struve

I say Struve gets into a firefight, and either knocks out Lavar or realizes he's outgunned and submits him.

    Dan Hardy vs. Duane Ludwig

Don't really care either way on this one. I think Dan Hardy is (or was) extremely over-hyped. I think Ludwig has been fighting for too long and may just be too set in his ways to get his grappling game up to the same or near the same level as his striking. It's hurting him in his fights.

    Roy Nelson vs. Dave Herman

Just do a Google search on "dave herman jiu-jitsu" and you will see why I am going with Big Country.

    Jamie Varner vs. Edson Barboza

His attitude makes it too easy to go with the other guy.

    Diego Brandao vs. Darren Elkins

??? - I'll just roll some six-sided dice and see what luck says about this one.

Paul "Sassangle" Sass vs. Jacob Volkmann

Paul Sass via Guard Pull to Triangle.

    Glover Teixeira vs. Kyle Kingsbury

Hmmm, about time he made his UFC debut.

    Mike Brown vs. Daniel Pineda

Unsure. Could be a "gimme" fight for Mike Brown but Pineda's record on Sherdog indicates he's a finisher.

        JDS reveals his strategy:

In this division, especially in this division, the heavyweight division, it's too much power, power involved, you know. So when you got punch in the face, it's not good. So I wanna punch him without get punch by him, you know... and that's my main strategy.
Well holy shit, are y'all writing this down?

Hmmm good strategy, I wish Mir would follow that one more.

I quite enjoy Frank Mir. He's an awesome troll. Check it out.

I do want Mir to win as well. But JDS is a solid humble champion. I'm looking forward to this whole card. With that said not sure if I'll be dropping 50 bones.

Cain/Bigfoot is a tossup, to me. Depends where it goes. If it stays on the feet, I think Bigfoot is gonna get dinged up badly. The ground/clinch? Could be rough.

                      Spoiler:
Wow, I expected JDS to take it, but Mir got completely crushed. He was never even in that fight. Probably his last title shot, I'd imagine. He just can't hang at the top level of the division. Also, I'm officially psyched for JDS-Velasquez 2 after Cain nearly killed Bigfoot.

Damn, JDS' Takedown Defense was surprisingly impressive.

That was the best card I've seen in a long time. The preliminaries were awesome. Hell, I got my money's worth before the PPV even started.

Goddamn there was a ton of blood in the Bigfoot fight. That was one of the bloodiest fights I've ever seen. Cain looked great.

Dos Santos looked great too, as usual. I thought Mir did okay, at least considering how some other top contenders have performed against JDS. He went out and pushed forward and actually looked like he wanted to win, unlike some of his previous fights. That's probably the most you can expect of him at this point in his career.

I was a bit surprised Mir didn't clinch and try to push him against the cage. Not sure why. Maybe he felt like he couldn't close the distance. Maybe he was worried about getting trashed for a boring performance. Either way, he's pretty much a gatekeeper now if he keeps fighting. I wouldn't mind seeing him against Struve.

So, what do you guys think about the HW title picture? JDS vs. Cain II obviously. What about the number one contender spot? I know Werdum is scheduled to fight Russow in June. Maybe bring in Cormier to take on the winner of that fight for a title shot????

It's funny. A year ago the HW division seemed stack. Now after Lesnar leaving, Overroids testing positive and various ass beatings it's looking pretty thin again.
