Lesnar out of JDS fight with diverticulitis, replaced by Carwin

    http://sports.espn.go.com/extra/mma/...ory?id=6535275

Shitty luck for Lesnar, but honestly I'm a lot more excited for this fight than I was for JDS/Lesnar. Velasquez probably would have crushed Lesnar again in a rematch. This way, we're guaranteed a new and probably way better fight.

That said, Lesnar might be a douche and a lousy coach, but nobody deserves to have holes in their guts. Hopefully he recovers without the potential life-threatening attack from last time.

Thoughts? I like Dos Santos in this one. Carwin is coming off of surgery and was training for a BJJ guy in his UFC debut. Either way, there's no way this one doesn't end up with someone's head getting knocked clean off their shoulders.

Probably JDS wins due to being faster and with better technique, although Carwin is always dangerous with his big bombs.

Aaaand the current season of TUF is even less relevant than it already was...

JDS takes this one. Carwin's bombs have potential, but JDS is athletic and skilled enough to weather the initial onslaught and finish it, likely in the first round.

Much better matchup, especially for Carwin.

Who will Carwin's opponent face now?

My vote is for Carwin, hopfully he's learned about not trying to put it on his opponent all in 1 round and has a gas tank now.

Just to be a douche, diverticulitis isn't exactly a "hole in your guts". It's more of an outpouching of the intestinal wall that gets inflamed when food and crap gets in there. Yeah I know i'm being a bit pedantic about this but I figured everybody could learn a little something about a condition that affects half of the population....over 60.

If this is intestinal diverticulitis again Lesnar really needs to eat more roughage. I was looking forward to seeing him fight. I'm curious to see if he'll continue to evolve as a fighter.

I could say the same thing about Carwin though. I doubt anything less than a significantly improved Carwin can beat Dos Santos' more technical striking.
Shut the hell up and train.

Lesnar is paying for the extreme weight-cutting he's likely been employing since he started wrestling. Dehydration turns you turds into diamonds, they do damage moving through the intestines, eventually those areas get inflamed or/and infected, and the puss drips onto the...well here's the wiki
In complicated diverticulitis, bacteria may subsequently infect the outside of the colon if an inflamed diverticulum bursts open. If the infection spreads to the lining of the abdominal cavity, (peritoneum), this can cause a potentially fatal peritonitis. Sometimes inflamed diverticula can cause narrowing of the bowel, leading to an obstruction. Also, the affected part of the colon could adhere to the bladder or other organ in the pelvic cavity, causing a fistula, or abnormal connection between an organ and adjacent structure or organ, in this case the colon and an adjacent organ.

He needs to lay off the Jack Links and up his fiber intake (the only effective way to protect against recurrent diverticulitis). And we see diverticulitis in all age groups, the traditional American diet breeds diverticuli like rabbits. From a fight aspect, JDS by TKO.

I'm going to assume that Lesnar has people in his camp watching his diet and giving him better advice than he'd get here.

You'd be surprised, he's the type of guy who attracts a lot of yes men.

Damn. That sucks. I don't like Lesnar but I didn't want him to go out like this. I was looking forward to this fight.

I think Lesnar's career is over. Even if he fights again, his chances of ever being champion again are extremely remote. Especially with the new blood that will probably end up in the heavyweight division as a result of the Strikeforce merger.

                            I say Carwin by TKO.

Dunno about you, but I tend to watch TUF for some free to air MMA, and to observe how fighters prepare for fights. The whole coach thing doesn't really concern me - don't get me wrong, I was looking forward to Lesnar-Dos Santos, but TUF (to me at least) offers more than coach vs coach man drama. It is unfortunate though that this season has been a little uninspiring...

My thoughts just about - although I don't know how over his career is just yet. He's a big draw, and I got a feeling the UFC would consider him too valuble to not give title shots. He may not get one for another year or two, but if he decides to stick it out I could see him as a number one contender again.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Carwin and Dos Santos in action again - it's also fortunate that they are fighting each other. Both also pose interesting match ups for Cain, especially if Carwin has worked on his nerves and gas tank.
