I have never seen that first submission hold.

Does it make me gay if I enjoy grappling?

Actually I really like boxing I just have been dying to use that line.
The outcome is not (officially) predetermined in most LARPs.

Boxing is dying. They are desperately trying to protect the brand. The two best fighters around (mayweather and pacquio) don't want to fight each other. No one knows or cares who the heavyweight champs are. The kids in the neiborhoods don't want to be boxers anymore, they want to fight in the octagon.

Hopkins has been popping this shit for a while now. A few years ago I remember we had a thread on here about Hopkins badmouthing MMA. He did admit that he would lose in a mixed martial arts bout, though, and also warned James Toney about stepping into an MMA arena.

I think the boxing crowd thinks their sport has a monopoly on fighting and gets pissed when anything threatens that. Kimbo Slice is getting into boxing, and after he gets his ass kicked I'm sure the boxing fans will repeatedly use him as an example of their sport's superiority over MMA.

Because MMA provides such a different dimension to sport fighting then Boxing does and they will have grown up comparing the two they will see Boxing as one-dimensional and not gain an appreciation for it, I think this is unfortunate because if you appreciate Boxing for the science that it is - it isn't boring at all.But there are boring fights..just as there are in MMA sometimes.
Heavyweights can be very boring..especially after thay gas out and clinch and hold for the last 5 rounds of a fight.
I suggest watching the lower weight classes where the guys throw upwards of 2,000 punches in a fight and then maybe it will appeal more to you.
This is definitely a late reply.
I am fairly young but no I do appreciate boxing, its just that if there was a UFC fight or a boxing fight you know which one I would choose.
What did you think of the Nate Diaz vs. Marcus Davis fight? I thought they both showed some pretty intense boxing in that fight.
Another thing about boxing is that if the fight is one-sided, there really Isn't a chance for the guy that is losing.

I hear this all the time from guys who are insecure.

"I want to do that cage fighting but not the rolling around on the floor stuff thats a bit gay, just the punching and kicking"

My only hope is that one day they fight an mma guy and get slammed and choked until they piss themselves before they throw a punch.

Which will leave them wondering, "who exactly was the man in that situation and who was the bitch?"

why are people saying boxing is dying? really now?

If Aikido is not dead, if WC is not dead, if the BOOOOJ is not dead.. then Boxing cannot die.

oh and btw Super Six ftw.

True, but any punch can knock a person out. imagine you being a boxer. going the distance in that corner. but you have gotten dominated in all the past rounds, would you say "omg I can't beat this guy!" hell noooooo!!! more like "I'm going to do this, im going to KNOCK HIM OUT!!!"

                            you know? :)
