In my first WC school, one of the green sash was trying to convince me that there was a mystical punch that could kill an oponent without touching him, and that Bruce Lee invented it and that he was the only one who could do it.

      I never went back...

I talked to two kids who were training under him last year, and they started preaching the same thing about this misterious punch that could kill without even hitting your opponent.

      I laughed my ass off...

They said that they secretly train it at home

I was crying by this point and walked away...

How retarded would one have to be to believe that!?!?!?!

I think Bruce Lee is roling in his grave right now. I even explained to them how this was physicly impossible. I even went to the basics as I explained to them that for every ACTION, there is a reaction, and that without two surfaces making contact, there was no possibility for a REACTION. And also that the air between the attackers hand and the defender's body was not compact or "solid" enough to cause any REACTION other than on a molecular level. ANyways, they answered by telling me that it was a secret technique and that I wasn't open to it so I couldn't understand it.

By the way, this guy also believes he can levitate.

I think there are two things missing on that list. TKD, specifically "sport TKD" and Mightly Morphin Power rangers ( not the toys, the show).
I noticed a rapid decline in the quality of Korean MA after TKD became an olympic sport. Now many TKD only Teach sport TKD and finding a traditional TKD that actally still teaches Self defense has become near impossible.
Mightly Morphin Power rangers have given kids and parents a delussion of what Martials arts is and should be. It's lead to the mass marketing if the MAs and fuels the rise of the Mcdojo and the creation of XMA.

Mysticism is definately the worst thing, be it "aikidoka don't need to be physically fit to defeat 10 muggers" to "Tai Chi is teh ancient skill of non combat martial art" (no joke - thats how its described on a flyer for my local gym).
MMA has been a great debunker of these myths, and has allowed the more open minded TMAers to rethink their arts into a better way of training.

yeah..that what I voted for too. All the mystic stuff can get annoyed..stop trying to shoot firballs and just fight.

mysticism , but ego plays a major role in causing a person to believe they can achieve power that is incomprehensible to others.
