    2) Bobby Blythe claims on camera that the guy was thrown in a dumpster. Do I call Mr. Blythe a liar? He would undoubtedly be offended if I questioned his words on the video.

    3) I appreciate the work War Wheel has done with this source, but unless he was willing to reveal his identity, his credibility cannot be judged. So for the moment Blythe's story that the guy was thrown in a dumpster is more believable.

Yes, the contradiction in the stories...Blythe, Dennis' Son (?), and the un-named source...are interesting. It is a Rashamon situation indeed. But this is what happens over time...stories change, memories change, perceptions change, etc.

It would be good for the source to go public and give some credibility to what he says.

It's actually not my place to approve the use of the Bullshido logo on anything, that's Phrost's call. I would ask that the link to the main thread appear on the vid (unless Phrost objects). The more people read the thread, the fewer folks are likely to scream "OMG! He died!" and order 100 pizzas to Blythe's daughter's house.

Maybe a link to a summary post would be more appropriate. I doubt the majority of viewers will take the time to read a 14 page thread.

Here is a summary I sent to some media sources. It already seems a bit out dated as this story is moving fast and this summary is a few days old:

Last week a video poped up on youtube (it has now been removed, but is still viewable elsewhere) posted by a Dumfries, Virginia martial arts instructor named Bobby Joe Blythe. The video, while only just posted last week for the first time, was filmed in 1984 and highlighted the near fatal assault of a yet unamed mentally challenged man by one of Blythe's students named Willie J Dennis. Since 1984, Mr Dennis has accumulated a bit of a rap sheet for domestic violence, battery, and assault with a deadly weapon...with a court appearance as recent as August 18th or this year. It may be that Mr. Dennis still teaches martial arts in Florida.

You can view part of the the video here:
            http://photobucket.com/albums/w46/St...rent=video.flv
            and in it's entirety here:
            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qI_iW...layer_embedded

In the video, which is the closest thing to a snuff film I have seen, a clearly mentally challenged man who believes he is a martial artist trained by Jesus is lured into teaching a martial arts "lesson" at Mr. Blythe's dojo (now closed). Circumstances which led the man into the dojo are unconfirmed. However, on the youtube page, Blythe bragged about the incident. The victim, who clearly had no intention to fight anyone, was subsequently beat to the point of severe head trauma, breathing difficulties, and blood loss, despite his continual protests that he was not interested in fighting. After the victim is left with labored breathing and bleeding head woulds (from foot stomping against a mental surface) on the floor, he is dragged out of the gym. Mr. Blythe then proudly videotapes the trail of blood left from dragging the victim out of his gym.

What happened subsequent to the assault is not known. It has not been confirmed if the victim is dead or alive, or who he was. What is known is that Blythe and Dennis (two USMC Veterans - Blythe a Vietnam Vet) were never charged for the crime and that members of the local sheriff's department were students at Mr. Blythe's dojo at the time...and possibly present to witness the assault (there were several witnesses evident in the video). There is suspicion that the crime may have been covered up, but no facts to that effect yet.

Why the video was now posted 25 years later is a mystery. Furthermore, during the same period (1980's), Mr. Blythe has been highlighted in People Magazine and on the Today show in the past with regard to a bodyguarding course for women he used to teach.

The today show clip can be viewed here (you can see Blythe and the dojo are the same as in the assault video):
            http://photobucket.com/albums/zz43/l...ent=video7.flv

We (interested parties and volunteer journalistic, legal and law enforcement persons) on Bullshido have been trying to establish Mr. Blythe's whereabouts and spread the word to any current students he may have via the internet martial arts community. We have contacted legal, mental health, and law enforcement authorities in Virgina as well as several media outlets...with no apparent follow through by them at present due to lack of interest or possible statute of limitations for the crime. In short, the lack of interest in this story has been appauling

We have also attempted to contact Blythe and Dennis at their respective youtube/myspace/facebook pages for comment, but they have not responded and have shut down their pages and deleted all content. Though most content had already been saved by Bullshido.

Mr. Dennis now resides in Florida. My Blythe's whereabouts are unconfirmed, though he may be in California.

You can read the entire discussion/investigation here with confirmation of the above facts, police reports, criminal records, screen shots of Blythe's deleted videos/comments, etc:
            http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?t=88535

We would really like to get this story more press and make sure these men are exposed for the crimes they have committed and brought to some kind of justice...moral, if not legal.

I have just realised that I may have posted some information in error in my last post

I do definitely know who the 2 male Caucasian black belts present are, no mistake there, however I might have made a mistake about another issue

It's probably a good thing because posting up little bits of info probably isn't helpful and I think it's best just to pass all the details on to the authorities

I am just exhausted and very distressed about this assault and was very excited to have discovered so much info all at once

From now on I'll just be posting important info to admin to pass on rather than posting here, just because the whole thing has taken on its own life and legs and we have no control about this.

It's not my job or the job of anyone here to establish any person's guilt or innocence, just to pass on whatever data we can harvest on to the appropriate investigating agencies and / or the press if they don't show appropriate enthusiasm for investigating, and leave the rest to them and the courts.

if this was a challenge match gone wrong, why was BJB then introducing the victim to the group as apriest rather than an opponent? Nothing in the beginning of the vid makes this sound like a challenge match. Mr Dennis exhibited a predatory behavoir by stalking the victim up until the time he thru the groin kick. The victims says he wants to show kata, not kumite, and Blythe says thats fine. As the victim is starting his kata, he is kicked. This make s me suspect of the challenge match gone wrong. I would think this was actually a test for the new black belt Dennis, and was a set up. The victim was not aggressive at all, and it appears from his body language Mr. Dennis already knew what was expecting of him. Also the lack of verbal response from those gathered also makes it seem as if the knew what was coming and did not want to be on camera answering Blythes stupid questions

IMHO, I think that what it was. Blythe, before bawwleting his youtube account made a comment that he was disappointed that the fight took so long and that because of it the next week he put Dennis through the ringer, so to speak.

If coldfire is indeed, the assailant's son, why can he not provide the name of the victim? It seems to me that if the previous run in with Blythe and the assailant and possibly coldfire (if he is the assailant's son) actually happemed, how would he not be aware of the man's name? The victim according to coldfire and Blythe's youtube was apparently known for being arrested in the area. No one caught his name in all of that?

Furthermore, giving coldfire the benefit of the doubt about the victim, it seems very far-fetched that he wouldn't know the name of the witnesses who were obviously students in the school. So why can't he provide us with the names of some of the multiple witnesses that are seen in the video? More testimony to what happened would help.

Below is the transcript from the fight video. In it the victim is referred to as KFG or Kung Fu Guy. Feel free to edit if I missed something or misspelled a term. I will work on the black belt video tonight and tomorrow and should hope to have it completed by the end of the weekend. The transcript is also saved as a Microsoft Word and Adobe PDF. It is long but I left the spaces in for readability.

KFG: (inaudible) tiger sir, the tiger is the symbol for Jesus Christ

KFG: (points at forearm) Here is the tiger (continues pointing at forearm)

Blythe: We’re all in here for knowledge, aren’t we(looks to Dennis)

Blythe: We’re all in here for knowledge, aren’t we gentlemen

Dennis: Listen up ya’ll, sensei is talking to y’all

                        Blythe: Correct John

                        John: Absolutely

Blythe: Because I can guarantee you that’s got to be some movements to behold, right

KFG: Well, I won’t brag or anything like that (could not make out)

                        Blythe: Ok, demonstrate on him

KFG: Well, I won’t demonstrate on him, I will demonstrate around him

Blythe: Go ahead and demonstrate around him

                        Blythe moves off screen

KFG: You can just stand there, do not make any movement whatsoever I will not touch you

KFG: Well, actually I..I think it would best maybe if perhaps if I just perform which is known in karate as kata

Blythe (off screen): We’re all interested in that aren’t we gentlemen

Students: Yes sir, yes sensei (faint and multiple voices)

                        KFG: Do you feel threatened?

KFG: I..I just wish to teach you, I don’t wish to hurt you

                        Dennis: Teach me

KFG: Well, what you must do, is to, just basically focus on the hands, your two hands and your two feet, stand straight…this way
(Blythe starts walking towards the back of the dojo as he walks past Dennis)

Dennis: Like this? (Dennis proceeds to give KFG a front kick immediately)

                        Dennis and KFG exchange blows

                        KFG: Don’t do that anymore

Dennis and KFG begins another exchange

KFG: No, just don’t do that

                        Dennis: kihaps after front kick

                        Off Camera (source unknown): Good

                        KFG: I’m not a fighter

Dennis and KFG begin another set of exchanges

                        KFG goes down

                        Dennis: (grunts) Motherfucker

                        KFG: You’re good

                        Dennis: Huh?

                        KFG: You’re good

Off Camera (source unknown): Don’t grab at his tie (inaudible) there

Off Camera (source unknown..woman): tv, tv

KFG: You got it ok, you got it, you got it

Off Camera (source unknown..woman): What you gonna do(audio breaks off)

Blythe: Ok, ok, boy that’s good, drag him out the back door

Blythe: Drag him out the back door

Blythe: Take that, get that uh, I want the sash

                        Dennis: Yeah, get my sash

                        Cut to next day

Blythe(off camera): What we have right here is the trail of the kung fu master…as he is departing my dojo

Blythe (off camera): This was taking on 13 December 1984, 7 p.m.

Blythe (off camera): And of course this is where he got drug out at

Blythe (off camera): Some of the blood on the backdoor.

This is inconsistent with Blythe's and the victim's behavior. Blythe introduced the victim as a priest who would be demonstrating spiritual movements allegedly taught by Jesus. He also responds affirmatively to the victim saying that he will "Not demonstrate ON him, but around him." And finally, the victim instructs Dennis not to make any movements and that he will not touch him, and that he only wishes to teach him. Blythe earlier says twice "We are all here for knowledge aren't we gentlemen?" further indicating that there would be a demonstration and not a match.

This makes sense but is not congruent with the victim's claim during the escalation: "I'm not a fighter!" which implies that he did not want to fight but to teach and demonstrate.

that Mr Dennis became enraged at some point, perhaps after being dropped by a kick

that Mr Dennis then escalated the conflict beyond the bounds of a Kyokushin style match by striking the head, and fighting on the ground

None of this excuses the deplorable last few seconds of the fight, but IMO it casts the conflict in a different light, and bears whether it was a set up, or a challenge match gone horribly wrong.
Dennis' body language and tonality indicated that he was anticipating combat from the very beginning of the video. He also sneak-attacked the victim while he was still giving instructions for what he (according to his body language) seems to have thought was going to be a demonstration. The idea that all parties knew that this was going to be a match is not congruent with the victim's, Dennis' and Blythe's behavior.
