well I do not know from Dave's gym to Steve's sweatbox but I did check out your link and have this to say:

who the fuck do you people think you are? everybody all happy and smiling and cheeky in the bios and what not? I mean what is it with you Welsh? Do we live in the same world!! I have not seen people that happy looking since.... well I have never seen people that pleasantly disposed so let me say this: the world is an awful place filled with viscious bastards and martial arts are for causing pain and misery especially to them... get with the program! and you tell the people over at Dave's or Steve's or nigel's gym to please understand that whatever they are smiling about to take the device out of their pants.... errrrrggggg!!!! forget it!!!!!

Listen chap if you can find any place with people like that my advice is to drink the koolaid and shut it... don't post about it don't discuss the recipe. My two cents

I didn't see much about MMA there. Only two days and they are both beginner classes. Not sure who is teaching it or qualifications. Seemed like a nice place there. Kinda cheeky.

        Guys, c'mon, it's a fitness center.

The trainers probably aren't experts and are most likely offering the classes to people who just want to get into shape. The website says that fights can be organized, but they offer no videos or photos of their events.

This place emphasises getting fit and just offers MT/MMA courses as a part of it. They make no claim to turn you into a great fighter. They just offer to get you into shape.

Get over it, it's not worth an investigation.

I have to say, if I still lived in Cardiff, I would be looking to try and train here: http://www.welshjudo.com/page.asp?num=6

              Hi guys,

I train at Dave's 4 or 5 times a week (except this week 'cos of a sprained thumb!). There are 2 MMA classes a week. Technically they're beginner classes but we're a growing club. We do all aspects of MMA. The instruction is pretty good for beginners, and one of the guys is a JJ/Judo blackbelt who teaches the submission grappling. The main trainer is a Muay Thai specialist.

We spar, do drills, sprawls, muay thai, boxing, greco grappling, BJJ, conditioning and takedowns.

There are also dedicated thai boxing classes that don't have any sparring. They're great for conditioning and Dave himself (former Royal Marine commando) teaches them. There are occasional sparring classes.

The boxing classes are fantastic. Richard is an incredible instructor and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

I'd say if you're an MMA beginner, Dave's is fantastic. It's friendly, very well equipped (thai pads, all kinds of bags, gloves, shields, guards - the works) and the instructors know what they are doing in their respective fields. I've definitely come on a lot in the 18 months I've been training there in all aspects of MMA. For an MMA Pro, you're going to need a little more. Outside of Dave's, there is a BJJ/Judo club in Sofia gardens on Friday nights I've been to once, it's very good, and also the new "Ultimate Fitness Centre" just of City Road which is well equipped but has very thing mats.

Any further questions, let me know!
