Point taken. But I may consider that person's advice at least and then verify or compare it to a doctor I go to see. I am not going to get into a diiscussion about the US medical industry. I work in the medical field with a specialist MD trained at Harvard. The third leading cause of death in this country according to JAMA is iatrogenic medicine. So forgive me if I don't have faith in the state of US western medicine as others do.

You stated -- "However, I'm more concerned about the legal ramifications as well as my inability to actually verify that he has a German medical degree."
Maybe I was not specific enough. He doesn't have a medical degree. I stated he has a Physical Therapy degree. Different. He doesn't give out medical advice, prescription advice, surgical advice, or root canals. I was talking about the things you encounter in training. You know... such as bruises, busted thumbs and toes, joints, muscle sprains and tears. He will be the first one to tell you to go see a medical professional.

Look guys, I see that I won't be able to give enough detail or prove anything by writing here on the boards. I don't know if one interview or class will convince you about anything either. That's fine. I just wanted you to at least feel it is worth a visit to the dojo, to visit him in person and maybe feel comfortable with letting your friend give the classes a shot.

Let's leave it at that. I don't like surfing the boards constantly...not my thing. Hope you understand.

I do like the little quotes at the top of the forum pages though.

The "I racka disciprine" is funny as hell.

Lol. Don't worry about posting anymore, solowarrior, we won't be in for a week and I'm sure any questions can wait that long. One last thing though- whats your name so I'll know you when I meet you?

understandable, I think we should wait until next Wed. and I believe we have a nice set of questions to cover all the general concerns.

Is this happening next Wednesday? I might want to come along if that wouldn't be overkill.

Yah for sure dude. Come with us. My Muay Thai is pretty rusty, I haven't trained since Nov last year.

anything in particular we should or shouldn't bring for the class (sparring gear, specific clothing, a drunk monkey)?

Good question, Neko. And wendy said it was definetely 6pm, not 7:30 right?

I dunno about you guys but I'm bringing my gear. I always have it in my trunk anyways, you know, just in case.

Jeffrey, I sent you a private message regarding your style field, check it out.

Actually, lately, most students show up at 5:30 (as work allows) and run barefoot on the street for 1-2 miles around a loop behind the dojo as a warmup. You're welcome to join. Class starts at 6 pm.

As far as what to bring, drunken monkeys are always entertaining. Cups are mandatory, as is hydration. You can bring sparring gear if you'd like but you may not need it. Definitely bring your gi. There are changing facilities there if you need it.

Wendy- I get out of work at 5 and I should get there early enough to run with you all. Is a gi absolutely necessary, or do you think it's cool to just wear workout attire for this? I have a gi, but it's hot as hell.

Just a question, why are cups mandatory if there's no sparring? (I swear I'm not trying to be a smartass, its sincere curiosity)

Also, do you guys practice throws, takedowns, submissions, etc? (Do you guys use mats?)

Everyone wears gis. I'm pretty sure it's mandatory. Bring a t-shirt just in case you need to take your gi jacket off. It's not exactly allowed, but it's preferable to anyone overheating and fainting. :)

Cups are mandatory because I've heard it hurts kinda bad when a man gets hit there. :angel2:

On a serious note, people can be partnered up to practice kicks, etc. If your partner doesn't have as much control as you'd like, he may hit a soft spot instead of the intended area.

                                Yes to throws, etc.

                                No to mats.

How many of you are coming?
