Great post terraform. really helpful! hopefully you can keep researching with us!

Know we have his D.O.B i will try and post a detailed timeline tomorrow.

Being able to speak Cantonese is a interesting question. but one that we would never be able to prove definitively to others. But I will ask my girlfriend, from Canton, to critique some of his attempts at Chinese names tomorrow.

Ronin i will post all the information about the world champs tomorrow when i have the book with me. Tony stated that it was a points competition not full contact.

Sorry SP I do not speak Cantonese, only Mandarin. If he was raised in Guangdong he should be able to speak Cantonese without question. If you can locate a native Cantonese speaker who can put questions to him in Cantonese you will have one more piece of evidence that may help to support his claims or discredit his story.

The other master being Li Chang Po from Xi'an may be a bit easier to track down, but still difficult without the characters. Does he state at when he trained with this master?

If he was fighting in point tournments it could have been anywhere. In China the main forms of competition are Leitai, San Da (both full contact) and forms.

A little while back on this thread there was a discussion between a few people about whether Tony had a Cantonese accent or not.

I think this missed the point entirely, the first question that should have been asked is, 'Does Tony Anthony even speak Cantonese?' He claims to have been raised in Guangdong province, which i believe is a Cantonese speaking area. Tony himself, in his book says, 'My grandfather took on the majority of my upbringing.' So one must assume he is fluent in Cantonese. He very well may have been raised in Guangdong province and speak Cantonese. But i am suspicious about even this.

All it would take to find out, is for someone who speaks Cantonese to talk to him. Ronin.74, you seem knowledgable in this area. Do you speak Cantonese? If so, why don't you phone him up and ask him what his favourite Chinese food is, in Cantonese?
When he used Chinese words, he used Mandarin pronounciation, not Cantonese.:qpepsi:

If this refers to "our" Ian Davidson, it's rather interesting, as I believe it's the same county as Tony Anthony lives in, am I right?

Although it's not spelled correctly, it seems that they mean Davidson and not as written on the blog, "Davison"

I may be misreading, but Durham is no where near Southend. Unless I've missed something, I havent kept track of the whole thread.

Is Essex nearby southend or is it southend (I'm from Denmark and don't know that much about your counties) Before his sentence, Tony lived in Essex

Southend is in the county of Essex, and is a bit east of London. Durham City is a city, in the county of Durham, in the northeast of england, pretty far apart.

Oh, thankyou :-D But still, I think it's interesting that we actually may know where Ian Davidson could be(maybe)

                        Davison/Davidson confusion

Done some research on this one today.

Ian Michael Davison (sometimes he gets called Davidson) is from South Shields, a coastal town to the east of Newcastle. He achieved notoriety for joining the PLO, and served time in prison in Cyprus. Which is where Tony claims to have met him. He may well have done. But i'd like to talk to him to ask him if he knew Tony. I talked to a journalist local to the area today, who was aware of who he is, but had no idea of his whereabouts. Not surprising, as when Ian Davison was released from prison in Cyprus and returned to England, he was in real fear of being killed by an Israeli hit-squad. I will be making more calls to newspapers in that area on Monday to see if anyone can give me any leads.

The other Ian Davison/Davidson, who got into trouble for possessing explosive materials, is from Burnopfield, just South of Newcastle. He is definitely not the Ian Davison/Davidson who was in the PLO.

Anybody have any ideas how we can get a copy of this:

                          This women may know something:

She interviewed Davison in prison and appears to be still fighting for the cause.

Thanks Terraform. I've just emailed Yvonne Ridley. She just may know the whereabouts of Ian Davison.

As a Film student I'll search the archives for a copy, but the doco was made in 85, 5 years before Anthony claims to have been there.

Anthony replied to my email stating he would awnser any questions. Sadly it has been 2 days and with no reply. I will contact Malcolm again if he doesnt reply by tommorow, as he seems to think we deserve an awnser from TA.

Still working on Caponey's jail term. Should know by tommorow.

As interesting as i'm sure it is, i don't think watching an old documentary about Ian Davison will help us. We really need to make contact with him.

The email links to Avanti's website are still broken. They've been down for days. A girl at Avanti told me i could email Tony at info@avantiministries.com. But he hasn't replied.

Filehelp, any chance you can post your email that you've sent to Tony on here?
