I would love to know where in NY this guy is.
His bio on that link is strange for sure. All his claims smell of BS.

OK, he has a 5th Dan in the style he created (CQB), so we can scratch that one off the list and being legit.

What I also find telling si that he does not say which master told him he needed to create his own style for a 5th dan test. I would like to know about who this was. In fact he does not name any of his teachers.

I will ask around about this guy.

Well, he needs to update his Myspace page. According to a statement here,

OK, here is a thread where he talks about his history in martial arts:
        http://www.lyon-ma.com/lkd/viewtopic...=42&highlight=

        Dated December, 2004:

This past October marked 31 years for me in various styles. For the last 15 years, I have been studying Traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu, and CQB Tactics (close quarter battle), which is very similar to Close Combat Jujitsu.
OK, we already know he claimed to create CQB which took for years and was a requirement by his "master" as part of his 5th dan test. This would have to be his Gouju teacher as he has no other 5th dan ranks except the one in CQB, which he created. In the case of Goju how does one become a 5th dan in 15 years? His bio say he was awarded his 5th dan for Goju and CQB at the same time...dec 03, a year before this post. He claimed in a different post it took 4 years to create CQB, when means he was getting ready for 5th dan after only 11 years of Goju...and a 5th dan in his own style of CQB after only 4 years...LOL.

In this thread he says he is 38 years old. Which would mean he tested for 5th dan in Goju at 37 years old...and began creating CQB at 33 years old as part of his Goju 5th dan test after 11 years of goju training (he said he was studyin goju for 15 years total at the time of the post).

His myspace page is a trip! It's like he wants to be James Bond...LOL. Fast cars, secret service fantasies, women, trying to start his own "high Risk Security" company, saving lives all over the place...Dude...who brags about these kinds of things?

Apparently his Goju master was Alexander Kirk, who has apparently dies recenty (RIP).
          Does anyone know of Kirk?

lol, well noticed folks. Honestly, after reading this guy's myspace I was shocked at how much of a clown this guy is. He even has close up pics of his bruised knuckles, along with claims of 2000 street fights and medlas for bravery rescuing young girls from peril.

This is a prime example of Bullshido. What pisses me off is that people like him are viewed as role models by people who are new to MA or who don't think to check his claims. The guys looks pretty big, so maybe he got through his life talking this bullshit by merely intimidating people?

I decided to do a search for CQB tactics and companies that offer it, and the funny thing is that there is NO WAY he created CQB as he states, at least not the name...LOL. There are so many results for CQB and several actual companies offering services that are founded by actual retired service men, that this guy looks just like a wanna be....who hangs onto his volunteer detective title and his work WITH (not for) the secret sevrice (which I find suspect anyway).

Once, I was a "security" guy at a high profile function here in NYC with governor Cuomo (see how old I am) and some UN folks. Basically, the real security service folks did their job, and I along with the extras they hired stood far away from the action watch the wind blow.
I would bet his experience was something like this....

Hi lumberjack. Lurk a little more. You are reposting things already brought up and calling bullshido before anybody has investigated. If you'd like to help, start tracking down his connections and trying to find his teacher(s).

Yes, that's what happened to me. The results for CQB were ridiculous so I'm trying another avenue.

OK, I found his real name on some Karate Forum (posted june 2004):

                    Master Julian Hoenig

5th Dan, Renshi, Okinawan GoJu Ryu
5th Dan, Co-Founder CQB Tactics (Close Quarter Battle)
                    3rd Dan Katsugo Ryu AikiJuJitsu
                    2nd Dan USA/Urban GoJu Ryu
                    1st Dan Close Combat JuJitsu
Police Tactics/Hand to Hand Combat Master Instructor
Member--United Martial Artists Association Black Belt Hall of Fame 1998
Member--Action Martial Arts Magazine Black Belt Hall of Fame 2004
Funny thing is that in this post, he claims to be "co-founder" of CQB, not the sole founder as he did in other posts.

So, we know know his teacher's name was Alexander Kirk and his name is Julius Hoenig. That should help us figure him out a bit.

                        From his myspace page:

Ive been in the martial arts most of my life, and have earned the rank of 5th Degree Black Belt in four systems,
Except he only lists 2 - Guju and CQB. He also said he was just awarded 6th dan in Goju, but his teacher is unfortunately deceased. So, who awarded him the 6th dan?

Regarding the "Action Martial Arts HOF"...

To get on this hall of fame, you nominate yourself, explain your contributions to martial arts, and promise to sell X number of tickets to the banquet. If is not a measure of skill at all. It is about how much $$$ you can get the banquet. Here is the application for 2004 (which Jules says was the year he was awarded):
                          http://amam.cfw2.com/page.asp?content_id=1504

On a side note, I have not been able to locate Master Julius Hoenig on Googel on any on the Action MA Hall of fame sites. I have also not been able to locate a listing of past AMA HOF inductees either. So, I wrote to Action Martial Arts to confirm his claim as a 2004 inductee into their hall of fame.

Regarding his induction into the "United Martial Arts Association HOF". I can't find such a thing (so far). I did find a few schools and smallorgs by that name, but no HOF. I also found the "United States Martial Arts Association HOF" inductee list and Hoenig is not on there:
                          http://www.rankinmartialarts.com/Hal...me%20Index.htm

I can't find anything about Alexander Kirk - except on Jules' website.

I haven't read much but I two things immediately hit the BS meter.

                                1) Working with the secret service. This is not something that just happens. You have to be employed by the government (military, NSA, Treasury, etc) and even then its a lenghty process. A co-worker of mine just got selected to work for SS and the process took months. He leaves at the start of the fiscal year and I will definitely ask him to look into this guy.

                                2) He holds a 5th Dan in CQB (which is an old term that has been around the military for quite some time) TACTICS. If he created it why does he have a 5th Dan?
