Dont buy the Core Combat training DVDs from Damian Ross or Carl Cestari

I tran in Defendo the really mean shit and I am always looking for something new or something to add to my training, I ordered(and as well sent back) The core Dvds and what a dissapointment there advanced techniques where basic then the 15 seconds on the BoB drill was pathetick. Try 2 or 3 min like where I train. Very dissapointed do not get the DvDs they suck!!!! Those are the Carl Cestari and Damian Ross Dvds

I apologise for the Grammar first off!! Yes I am calling Bullshido on them. I have several tapes as well as books on Reality based martial arts, I am always looking for something that could enhance my training. Carl Cestari who apparently was voted in Blackbelt magazine as 6th or 7th most dangerous man and who is the head trainer along with his top student Damian Ross have there ads in Black Belt , 3 dvds for a hundred bucks(with a money back gaurantee). Damian Ross proclaims himself as the most respected Reality based instructor in the world. I thought there might of been some usefullness in these Dvds. I unfortunately was dissapointed. The primary techniques taught were striking the Shuto and the Chin jab eye gouges etc.. which in by themselves are good techniques but thats it. It has them beating up on a BOB doing 15 second drills all out(we do 2 to 3 minites straight) nothing dealing with if some one jumps you from behind, multiple attackers, knife attacks. It seems to me everything in these DvDs is geared towards if someone aproaches you from the front and as soon as he crosses your personal space attack, dont get me wrong I am all for the preemptive strikes but what if someone grabs your throat or attacks you from behind. Basically someone that claims to be so good and what great DvDs these are its a sham!! People like Geoff Thompson, Jim Wagner the Wolfe brothers have so much more to offer

Before I get into playing devil's advocate, let me just preface this by saying I have never studied under anyone listed. Now, to commence the devil's advocate angle:

--What exactly about this is bullshido? The only claim I see about claiming some inflated rank and/or title I bolded, but that could easily be construed as his own opinion about himself. If Cestari was voted into a Blackbelt Hall of Fame for whatever, that would be something that could easily be validated.

--From what you post about the DVDs, it sounds more like a bad product marketed really well rather than any kind of fraud (much in the way of a stereotypical McDojo vs. a bullshido school).

Besides the fact that I've been under the impression that this Lt X guy is not a qualified representative of Carl Cestari, so don't say that Carls info sucks unless you've seen his stuff.

What does Core Combat mean? Is it an accumulation of the core, or basic, techniques that they teach? Why would you expect to learn anything advanced from these dvds, if this is the case, which I believe that it is?

I've heard nothing but good things about his stuff up until now. Maybe you're just a Wolfe Bros. nuthugger here to push their stuff...

My reply to Bearich! I think there should be a responsibility in what you sell to people and how you market that. To pack 3 DvDs with just strikes as your techniques you may as well join a McDojo because as a serious student and instructor I was quite dissapointed with the product as well as the claims of which none were fullfilled.

Jeez, I have a friend that bought every dvd off of my list for $90. You just got robbed by some website scam. Get over it.

Well, I looked at Wolfe's website and those guys are the ones with the CORE training which is what you originally called these bad dvds you bought, & now you're changing it to these other three from this list that I just posted.

Some of Cestari's students have been vocally criticising Bill Wolfe's program on forums for years. There must be bad blood between them, and this smells like a personal agenda to me.

I've seen some of Cestari's stuff and it's actually pretty good as far as RBSD stuff goes.

Jim your taking this quite PERSONALLY and you must have some obsession with Nuts considering the amount youve been talking about them:) If you actually look at the DvDs (Carl Cestaris DvDs)you will see on the covers it says Core Combat Training oh but wait a minite seeing as you you know so much about what Core training is you should know That .Core is a term used in all Fairburn based systems. If you think strictly choping away at a opponet is gonna win the fight you obviously havent had a real fight in your life against anybody who knows what there doing but hey good luck again to you! As far as the bad blood goes in the 10 years I have been there (at Wolfes)I have never heard of any bad blood, but Damn if you think that is good training on the DvD you have seriously never seen good training, spend some money and come on down to Wolfes and be schooled a whole lot. Seriously though why cant we all get along!!!!:)
