          Middlemoor,

Not just a Judo black belt in 1 year, but also a Combat Sombo black belt. Then in just a short 2 1/2 years later you can add a BJJ black belt to that. F'n Deal! huh?

Couldn't link to the site, but unless the "blueprint" includes something like 12 hours a day of training, 7 days a week, I find the claims a little outlandish.

Well, the reason this doesn't worry me much is because real grappling arts constantly get out there on the mat and fight! And many also do some form of sport BJJ or NHB. So frauds that got their mail order BB in a coupla years will be easily exposed, either by their poor performance on the mat or their unwillingness to actually fight.

The competitive nature of MMA and NHB make it difficult, IMO, for frauds to exist. I know there may be a few. But they should always be rare.

                Regards,
                Matt

Homer: Yeeuch! Bleh! Ugh! ... I'll have a crab juice!

                  Very true Matt.

The public can be easily mislead though.

I'd agree its a consumer issue because most of these guys will be forced to admit the limits of their knowledge by competition. Of course one of them could go off to some small town and open his BJJ school and sleeze by without ever being truely challenged.

I started getting the email from that sight a while back to see what it is about.

A bunch of positive visualization and self talk

I think you misunderstand his take on things, he is not going to certify 'Black Belts'. His focus is giving advice to help people training grappling skills.

I get the impression his first tip would be: find a competent instructor. . .

                            Actually, this guy is legit.

I have talked to him on some forum or another about this program of his, and it's actually somewhere along the lines of what Punisher said - train, in a certain way, every day for many hours.

He, Lloyd somethingorother, actually got his legitimate BJJ blackbelt in 3.5 years, and he describes how he did it. Aparently, he can not compete anymore due to an injury, but when he did compete, he did well. His current students that compete perform well.
