They charged us 20 bucks for our first roll around because we still lived in tennessee at the time. if you're a resident of the area, it's free.

Alliance must really be t3h deadly. After only 1 lesson you can successfuly mug people!
If it's a real busy school, then I can understand it. At my school we're running out of room, too. If a bunch of n00bs come in to try it out and explode because they can't handle it, then it's just a waste of space for us. And of course you can't just jump into the technique of the day, you have to teach them "This is guard. This is how you-- hey, don't laugh, it's really a position!" yadda yadda. It gets annoying.

I paid about that for my first BJJ class (a Gracie-Barra school), but that's probably just because the instructor hasn't given a moment's thought to running his class as a business.

Originally posted by CullionNo, it actually scanned as "kid just posted something out of character which I would expect from a silly middle class girl who believes Elmore-like reasons why her gym has to charge _alot_ for a trial class in order to keep 'undesirables' out".
Does that make it clearer ?

Anyways, I am surprised the Vultures have not descended upon him and told him to train at a "r34l skul!"

Do use "the Search Function Newbie" to find a few posters in your area. The reason is there HAS to be better schools than that in the Seattle area. Unless you really want to learn a kung-fu. In that case, I have to agree that the lack of a free lesson is a Red Flag. Perhaps you can just watch a class?
I mean, there just HAS to be a judo class!

It's not as established over here. I picked up a local listings magazine yesterday. Listed under 'health and fitness' was yoga, ashtanga yoga, eatmyheel yoga, taichichuan, taijikuan, aikido, gong-fu, shaolin kung fu.....
