I was searching around for videos of kendo and wrote "katana" in the google box. Now, there are good kendo (and naginata) videos out there, especially if you search their names, but 'katana' brought up a couple of.. ..odd ones..

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...27598&q=katana

"Demonstration of use of a katana swords against four opponents with Katana swords. Includes traditional techniques and aikido oriented use of sword."

So.. ..is it just me or is the footwork wrong, the hands opposite of what they should be, his backside bent and his work generally unrelaxed? I'm only a low-level kendoka, so if this is some form of kenjutsu, iaido or jodo I wouldn't know.

I tried searching for these guys on bullshido.com, but nothing turned up.

The special promotion cupon on the special page promises two months of self-defense training in karate and aikido for $99.00, if you print out the cupon and bring it along.

I'm sure real Samurai used to do kata like that. They liked to twirl and stuff, right?

Not to mention it looked like he had a lot of blade on blade contact with his imaginary opponents to make it look better.

You know, the sad part is that those involved in those clips actually believe they are doing some good shit that works. :bduh:

Some of the videos from that site (found on goggle video) would be hillarious if it wasn't for that fact that you can find them under "Karate Self Defense". Like this for example:
                          http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...44594&q=katana
(I'm shure this one has allready been posted here somewhere). I just love how he places his hands litteraly in his armpits..

He, me and one of my friends from school do that stance sometimes when waiting for the subway or are just generally bored. I laugh every time.

I always win my arguments with my imaginary friends. Plus, the sword is too deadly to try with a real live enemy...never mind kendo. It's the perfect angle.

That man should be thrown in a ring with Gomi and left to fend for himself.
