Hi. You are reading an archive of the legendary Bullshido forums, from 2002-2020. Please visit our NEW and (arguably) improved forums at https://forums.bullshido.net.
(Or don't, this is just an announcement and nobody's holding a gun to your head.)
Anyway, he's doing his thing and I guess some woman in the audience is giving him the evil eye. Well, he gets all offended and loses it on her for a few minutes and then gets back to the seminar. . . .
You underestimate the powers of the Evil Eye [Tm.--Ed.]?!!!!
I mean, I could win every MMA event with it, but it is, like, too dangerous and stuff. . . .
yeah don't post that shit, it might give JP some arguments why not to do BJJ. Or maybe not...
Seriously if there is a guy that seems to be the opposite of a gay man, it is JP. Him and his crew are more of the caveman type.
I am pretty sure I know who Macte is, I wasn't going to bring up his name, but he has as much experience in the crap that was/is WCD/FSD then anyone I know.
No offense to the many fine FSD people out there...but.....even the top JKD fighters ( new age) out there threw away the straight blast..why?? evolving times...and the Gracies and others...how did this happen..same way it happened to me 15 years ago....tried it out full bore vs a BJJ Purple belt and hit him..still went down...it was a mutual try out thing..no bad blood at all..but after all those years down I went.....and I was in a different world...no matter how good you can hit..sheer momentum will take you down....`id rather hit the dirt with pile of BJJ knowledge than go around to all the other schools saying they all suck....and oh..sorry been on the ground with some of the best in the business in that regard and unless youv`e got some schooling there your done....it`ll be close the gap and be taken down to the ground time....
Sorry to burst the chung choie bubble....its the truth...oh I think thats called swimming....and not on dry land...in endless and useless cycles of traps..mean`t to teach a progression to first month Jun Fan students(from 1968)...and be thrown away....ouch the truth hurts or should I say makes you black out from that triangle that was just put on your neck...."I thought Sifu said this works??" should not be your last words...before tapping or worse.."I guess you`ll be blamed for not drinking your kool-aid"..............
As the say in DBMA....Woof!
My first encounter with the ground game was a friend I played rugby with. He was a Brown Belt in Jiu-Jitsu (that's all he would introduce himself as - turns out it was GJJ - the bastard) and after watching the first UFC together - and me dumbly asking why Royce fell to the ground all the time - we set up for a friendly sparring match.
Well about 12 seconds latter I was tapping to a rear-naked choke. Then we stood up and he did it again, after an hour of him putting on a clinic, I changed styles.
OH, Oh, Oh! I hear where you're coming from. After years of FSD training I too had a friendly sparring match with a very experienced stand-up and ground fighter. Now I must say that my years of training FSD has made me pretty aggressive and has given me a personality that refuses to lose and won't ever quit. To make a long story short, I was also taken to the ground and regardless how hard I tried to "not lose" I was choked out. The first couple of times I kept saying "fuck" everytime I had to tap out or pass out. My friend said, "hey, you don't have to swear - losing is a good thing, it makes you get better; soon you'll be on this end listening to others feel the same way you do. Maybe, you'll tap me out too; I look forward to it." It took about ten more minutes of me getting tapped out and saying "fuck" before I stopped using the word and began emptying my cup to have it filled again. I have never looked back since and have only became a more relaxed and dangerous fighter.

I've rolled with a fairly well known team in the states and on one of the days I was there an Olympian, a Pride champ and a UFC champ all happened to be in the gym at the same time (I'm sure most of us can figure out what gym I was in without me naming it.) Anyway, I was talking with the head coach about what makes this team so unique in their approach and success. He said that when they rolled or sparred (even in competition) when they were unsuccessful, even if it was a small thing like getting swept, they would smile and keep going. Often times congratulating the other guy after the match. If you see this team competing in the UFC you'll notice that they will always make a very heartfelt comgratulations to the other team and opponent after the match (regardless of outcome).
Not to pick on Crazy Mount but the attitude that Fang Shen Do breeds that he just illustrated is another huge flaw. This is the mind set that instills in the students that only by virtue of a mistake they make will their opponent be successful.
For example:
- I was taken down because I didn't keep my distance.
- He swept me because I failed to check my leg.
- I was choked out because I gave up my back.
And so on and so on. Notice that in this line of thought no credit is given to your opponent for 'out grappling' you. As Crazy Mount's friend said, one day this will be you. I'd go further to say that without the experience (continual) of being out wrestled/struck/grappled etc. you never become better. How long has the top echelon of Fang Shen Do lived in this vacuum of misguided belief in their own skill level.
I think this also leads to a situation where even if someone did lose in a match the FSD line would be to say that, "Oh, well Jacques just made a mistake, he wouldn't have normally been caught with that. It was just sparring after all." I think this is the basis for why the instructors either go all out or not at all when against students. It pre-establishes an excuse for lack of performance on their part.

'I know I'm getting better because I fell down a lot today!' (a kid I was teaching to ski)

So true. I was warned during a "sparring" session by an instructor that if I went "full out 100% that he would do the same and return the favor". So, I pulled my punches and during the melee I dropped my right hand slightly and got caught 100% full on with a left hook. No pulling of punch and a critique on how I needed to work on my guard.
It's funny how quickly our sparring session ended following that hit. Apparently, I wasn't allowed to return the favor.
It appears that FSD has sucked the life and cash out of people because it takes place in a Vaccum.
Question: Why cant I learn other styles while taking FSD?
Answer: Cause the Clan doesnt get your money
Question: Why would Sijo crap on people for going to other
peoples seminars?
Answer: Cause the Clan wont get your money
Question: Gee I just joined your club but your not going to teach me 'details' unless I join the BBC?
Answer: Yes... we want more money from you
Question: Why am I led to believe that I need to go to a weapon seminar that the sifus put on by watching a purchased Kali Video and just want to demonstrate what they ripped off.
Answer: We need money to finance a low budget straight to video Movie project and we need your money.
Question: If i want in on secerts why do I need to show up forthe Crazy Tuesday
Midmight workouts?
Answer: Because you are mentally tired and suseptable to more of our crazy BS,Heck we can probably reprogram any doubts about or system out of you in your tired state....Oh and we can get you to give us even more money in the long run.
Question: Will breaking arrows on my throat really change my life?
Answer: actaully anyone can break an arrow on their throat because of the pressure (PSI) against the blunt practise arrow which we use. When we say arrow everyone naturally assumes its the sharp type used for hunting. It may not change your life but thanks to your money it changes ours :)
Question: Is the dog poop neccesary?
Answer: Well part of the break you down process where we get you to do anything we say is an old trick from the army. If we break your ego..we own you dumb fucks :) first we own the mind..then the wallet.
There are 'stories' cirrculating about the club using peoples credit card numbers without their consent from way back when, wonder if there is any truth to this? can someone confirm this? cause if that actually happened that shit is plain wrong.

Followed up with the ubiquitous, "If I really wanted to hit you I could have hit you much harder!" I love shit like that. :XXbirdman
Thank you SokeJP, can I have another! You could be within an inch of laying a brutal beating down on SokeJP only to have one of the following things happen:
1.) Soke decides that instead of continuing the sparring session, you will now work on a technique he just saw.
2.) Class runs out of time.
3.) Soke chastises you for 'using too much power' after all true FSD comes from within without strength.
I love how people like this justify failure via the 'That's not FSD' excuse/cope out.

Hi, Corvus good to have you back. I have a wee question - is this one of those moments that made you step back and say to yourself "hang about......"? I'm not sure if you are out yet or have sufficient distance from them in your own mind to post the incident that made you see the forest and the trees at FSD. If not, please knock about a few tales of FSD wierdness that aren't specific to your presence. Or hell just PM away.
Slug- rumors of credit card fraud at FSD? at the club? Yikes. I'm assuming you know some members at my new favorite martial cult- I take it more and more ppl at FSD are becoming aware of this- perhaps I'm assuming too much but it seems to me those kind of rumors would pass between doubting members, and perhaps a few more of them have since Stringfellow's article.

Oh, and JP needs to meet this guy:qtank:
I heard something about this from a person that was in the club back in 1993 pre FSD when it was known as Modern Wing Chun, This person that came to Cali had tons of horror stories about the lovely family. Appearently the have been screwing people for years. All I have is the recollection of the ex patenaude black belt that I spent 2 days with at a seminar. Boy was he pissed about the family!
He seemed like a real nice guy I find it hard for him to make shit up considering that others have chimed in about the 'wonderful' family.
I dont think he was jealous of any success as much as the FSD would like to use this excuse...but more of like how his wallet was anal rapped and how the family turned on him after he spent 10 years being loyal to them.
