If you are into FSD the pagoda BBC classes are the place to be.

Are these the ones where you would split his firewood for him?

1: does the bbc act as a stand alone membership? meaning i can attend reg classes, -"Yes."

bbc classes,-Yes.

weapons, and sparring classes?- Dunno.

and the bbc membership can REPLACE the normal membership? insted of paying both?- "It did when I joined."

2: how are the sifu's in montreal? personality wise?

3: for those who took the bbc membership, what did the bbc classes consist of?


"It has really changed, it used to be Sijo's private class where you would go to:"

-train with the really super dedicated
-you could train with those in higher ranks
- learn advaced technique and get to Black sash faster.
-Techniques were picked apart more in depth.
-Intense exercise. Like double the reps and faster for example.
-3 hour meetings were common.
-You really felt like you were going somewhere special.


Now:
-It's pretty much just a regular class now when it held at the downtown location.
-Sometimes something cool will happen. You'll see a technique you would not see in class.
-Techniques are still looked at with more depth.
-Sifu Martin really does express himself very well. An authority on FSD for sure.
-The pagoda meeting were still old school and intense.

If you are into FSD the pagoda BBC classes are the place to be.

but i forgot to ask, how were the belts for you? if you dont mind me asking, what belt did you reach in what time? and were you forced to go to training camp or seminars for belt tests early on?

The Pagoda is in Ontario, yes. It's pretty cool to train there you owe it to yourself if you are gonna join to go sometime and check it out. You will have to gothere for the training camp (which is $500.00!)

Maybe I'm a sucker but I do not regret going to training camp. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done and it's not for everybody but I recommend it. It does take what you think are your limits and blow them away. I'll give it that.

I never had to smell dog shit or wash feet! FUCK THAT!

I read a review of FSD a few years ago, it mentioned something about him having a "wood splitting party" with his students.
I never did that, it was before my time I think.
It did raise some concerns at the time but I denied them.
You gotta remember all these things so openly spoken about here were spoken about in hushed whispers back in the day. Yay internet!
Plus anybody who had suspisions probably split before they could share them.

I was not forced to do anything ever. Early on or later on. However if you want to test for Brown you have to have been to Training camp, had to have taken weapons classes and had to take weapons level 1 test (I mention this because the test is an additional fee).
I read on this site that Focus on Results seminar is mandatory but I did know that. Then for Black Sash you must have Level 2 weapons.

The training camp should be much less expensive and the tests for weapons should be free or a lot less expensive!

There are instructors there that I really looked up to and enjoyed going to see every week. I wish they were'nt a part of all this but they beleive it all or are in to deep to get out.

how i am seeing it now is (recent changes)

belts and tests are included up to brown (dont know if it was like that for you)

if your a member of the bbc, you can go to all the classes, weapons classes, sparring classes, and get i think 2 free seminars a year, thats about right (acording to the newest fsd rules/statement

i wonder if their are any seminars in the montreal schools? or only at the pagoda?

Enhanced as with all martial arts there are people who you look at and go 'Dude, you're really cool and I respect you but why are you associated with these idiots?!?' I think maybe you're starting to realize that ou can't justify an entire system with one or two good points.

My suggestion is that you ask to drop in on an MMA club or Jiu Jitsu club in your area. I don't know if you're in Ottawa or Toronto but I can give you some tips as to whee to go. These guys are very cool and you'll quickly find that you're not alone in having been in one system and switched.
