I'm getting tired of answering your questions so please do me the favour of paying attention this time. For the record you still have not satisfactorily answered my questions regarding your training and your system, but enjoy this input for what its worth:

Hello all it's been a while,
What I would like to know is this,

-What should I look for in a school as far as actual fight/martial art training goes?

- Personal fit. If you feel intimidated or preasured walk away. I personally require a school that teaches me something that actually works, but that's just me. You need to find what you need. The fact that you're on here is either an indication that you're an FSD instructor who's too stupid to go away or you're a student who's questioning what you need. Try out some schools, you'll find a fit.

- How would the training be different than what I experienced at FSD, besides this new school would train in grappling?

- FSD doesn't work. The saying "..showed up for a gun fight with a knife..." is applicable.

-Can somebody please give me an actual example of something bad about the way I was trained?

- A guy with 5-6 weeks of Jiu Jitsu pimped one of your instructors!!! What more do you need. If your goal is to be a fighter then you're in the wrong school!

I know that the grappling was missing and you guys don't like the way the sparring is done but what is it that you guys consider bad techniques that are taught? What do you know does'nt work?

- A GUY WITH 5-6 WEEKS OF JIU JITSU PIMPED AN FSD INSTRUCTOR!!! By your definition and the definition of FSD by sJP this shouldn't happen.

I really don't want to try something out in a real situation only to get my ass handed to me or skullfucked (to borrow a phrase).

- Yes well while you're trying to 'knock my teeth out' (to borrow a phrase) I'll be showing you how your system doesn't work. A GUY WITH 5-6 WEEKS, aw fuck it if you haven't heard by now it won't impact you that much more now.

I have no other experience to compare my FSD training with so I really need advice. I think it's still relevant to the current discussion.

PS- I know that there is Krav Maga in town and they have Bas Rutten who fights in Pride as an endorser.

I also know of a Gracie BJJ school in town but I've never heard anything about striking in BJJ and that is as big a concern for me as the no grappling in a striking system.

UFC 59 does'nt begin for another 18 minutes so please help me out.

- What do you want in a school?
- What are your goals as a student?
- Why do you train?

Answer those questions to yourself and your answers will be clear. If you ever want to be a UFC style fighter I can assure you FSD is not the way.

I have'nt even read your whole post yet but it starts off unexpectedly to be frank. I'm starting from zero I'm not here waving the FSD flag. If you don't want to answer my question fine (even though it seems that maybe you did).
I'm trying not to repeat past mistakes I guess that was not what came across.

Ok I went back and read what you had to say, I said that thing about the skull fucking with a grin on my face and with humor as a nod to the past as in point taken.

I did answer your questions. I've answered every question you've asked. When you pose them I answer them. Perhaps you'd like to furnish me with the answers you would like to hear so that I can give them to you next time.

1.) Someone with 6 weeks of training in another style beat an FSD instructor in his own game.

I don't know what more proof you want. Please read what I've written as I did take the time to answer your question as well as posed a few to get you thinking.

I appreciate the humour in the 'skull fuck' comment which is why I responded in kind. Humour is a funny thing, not always appreciated by those it was intended for. Right now the only joke seems to be FSD.

As for proving you're not an FSD instructor.... Well I guess that's your job not mine.

I have respected you enough to answer your questions as bluntly and directly as I could. It is not my fault you haven't read my entire post before responding to it.

I would suggest reading an entire post and perhaps avoiding the intentionally emotionally inflammatory phrases to get at the heart of my ideas.

Enhanced, Martial Arts is at once an intensely personal experience but also one that can be externally verified very easily. TKD BB really has answered your questions, read his posts again!

Simply wander around and spar with people from other Styles.

If in fact you are looking for something better. Stringfellow mentioned that he is writing something on exit strategies from Fang Shen Do.

Then walk around to the legit clubs in your city. Try each and every one of those clubs. Do not sign up for the first one that tells you they teach teh D3adly Str33t Death killer UFC/MMA undefeated champ. Maybe even find someone who has lost an MMA fight. .... .... Experience is a great teacher and there are guys training out there that are amazing.


Edited to add: go over to the thread "Fang Shen Do Videos of Disaster" and directly see why we know that there is a problem with what you are learning. The only thing your Sijo is legitimately certified to teach is Anthony Robbins Seminars.

Did you read Stringfellow's article? As well, Greenhornet is not the only one to have trained in Montreal, there are a number of Montreal students who have posted on these threads.
