You really don't understand this fighting at all, do you, Askari? In the second photo, he's fighting a boxer with no left arm. His left punch takes care of the rest. Duh.

I'm kind of sorry I slighted FSD. That's way more acknowledgement than it deserves. FSD is really just a symptom, a cough or fever or cancer. The desease is the sijo guy and his cronies who push this crap (again with the dogshit)
        :5blindfol Great post!

LOL. Now I get it, sJP is hunting the one armed man in order to clear his name.

Should anyone want a copy of the Corel PhotoCD with the full sized pics, you can always purchase it at:

            Fang Shen Do message board?

It even looks like there was an attempt at having a Fang Shen Do message board:

Link to Fang Shen Do Message Board

Looks like they have forgotten it existed. I guess my post will remind them.

            I will rest now.

You know, the Internets is a great resource:

              TMAHOF
              Who's Who In Martial Arts
              Ontario
Brad Jones, Shihan David A. Dennis, Rudy Timmerman, Sijo Jacques Patenaude, Master Joseph K. Foster, Soke Glenn E. Kwan, Soke Larry Kwan, Adam Gibson
Now you may ask why is that link and quotation Bullshido?

Well because TMAHOF is yet another version of the purchasable and ever famous: The Martial Arts Hall of Fame
This one created by Danny Passmore of Waco, Texas. On this site you can also purchase this book:
Positive Defensive Behavior - Emotional Self Defense Training for Youth
              Includes:
Life is not a Hamburger, It's a casserole.
And the world's largest wall plaque.
You know, in company like that sJP just doesnt even stand out.

Wait wait wait! How come Siju doesn't have 'The World's Largest Wall Plaque' for Humility? That seems unfair.

                  TKD

Oh Askari, you have to submit the plaque and gold sash picture to Phrost for pictures of disaster.

                  - Note the guy on the left is on the heels of his feet. Bad picture? Perhaps but you should never be that far back especially when making contact. Also note the full extention of the arms, again a flaw in stick fighting as your opponent needs only to recognize this and step out of your range before adjusting his/her attack.

"If you are a higher ranked student: How would you like to cut through any uncertainties and go beyond all the techniques, strikes, kicks, etc., in your personal training and bring your martial skills to a new level of excellence!"

                      - So wait, if I'm not a member of the black belt club I'm going to suffer from uncertainties and acheive excellence?!? Anyone every watch Super Dave? Man that sounds so much like a Super Dave stunt, well in theory this works, but we're not really sure.

"In reality this is such a unique program it is hard to describe"

                      - I can't describe it but I'm damn sure gonna charge you a shit load for it ;)

"at my very own personal pagoda"

                      - What?!? That's ignant, we weren't doing anything wrong! You're ignant! Pass the Jeebus Juice please.

"At each and every one of these special classes you are surrounded by students and instructors that are serious in their training and who work as a team to motivate each other in achieving their very best!"

                      - While in the regulat class you'll be surrounded by the kids who still drag their knuckles and speak in monosyllabic two word sentences.

Okay, I could go through that whole thing and find gems of wisdom and blatant stupidity. I'm off to see a man about a motorcycle.

I have received a PM that confirmed sJP was turned down by a first generation Bruce Lee Student.

Further, sJP initially claimed that that they only needed a weekend of training because he was a grandmaster of his own system and had years of experience and that his son MP was one of the best. The first generation Bruce Lee student had previously heard of sJP's bad reputation in the martial arts community.

I can't confirm at this time which of the first generation it was, other then this was after parting ways with DeMile

luckily, as it is hard to describe, you can never be sure if you actually got what you wanted from the program, or what we said the results would be. Good news! You get to spend more time in the program!!

What is sad is all the points he makes should be free.

Extra gym time should always be free and available.
Working out with high ranking students should be free and always available.
Time with your instructor should alwas be free and available.

                            2 free seminarars:

This one is tricky. I know how expensive having a Gracie, Machado, etc seminar can be if they host a seminar. The difference is you are paying to train with a recognized expert, not a self promoted expert. You are also getting people from outside your gym (opening your world) and seeing differences in their game.

My old gym had these stupid "extra classes" to bad, my eyes weren't open at the time. Why do you need a sparring theory class, stretching class, conditioning class, punch class, and kick class? All these things should be worked on every day and every week not on a seminar basis. Seminars should be intensive training on things you learn in class. They should also be strictly voluntary and not tied to any rank advancement. I always thought seminars were for people who couldn't make it to they gym on a regular basis. This is my opinion.

You should not be paying extra to get "new training" from your instructor. His teaching and knowledge should always be free and available.

Exclusive uniform. Now, I could go on all day about this little gem. When you train it is an individual experience. Personally, if you don't compete, you should be able to wear anything condusive to training safely. Now uniforms IMO are a way to advertise you school. I have no problem with that in and of itself. I have problems with gyms that use uniforms to denote a heirachy.

I feel when you have Gis with different frills it is to let Assistants/Instructors/Helpers know who is "BB Club" (yes this isn't exclusive to FSD) and who is to cheap to pay. This is a way to make it known who is the easiest to milk for money. It is also a way to make the "lesser students" know who is special. You feel bad because you don't have the "special pass" to the club and you are guilted into taking seminars.

It is a win win scenario for the instructor.

Also, I have a huge problem with "time investment", look how much it costs for private lessons with me I'm so bad. When you can go down the street for half the amount.

                              Link
I remember seeing sJP and MP do the bar-bending thing at one of the Christmas parties. As you say - a neat parlour trick. The arrow-breaking is the core of the "focus on results" seminar (mandatory in order to progress past a certain rank). The glass-walking of course is being hawked in the same manner as the fire-walking.

I distinctly remember one of the instructors showing me a video of the glass-walking (either Martin or Jacques was doing it - I can't remember). At one point he said, "look how he really grinds his foot in on this step!". All I could think was how much it looked like he was trying to make sure in was nice and flat before he put his weight on it.

I've been thinking about these "trick" seminars lately. I think they've really started to push them for a couple of reasons:
                              1. It's sJP who puts them on, not individual schools, so the money goes straight to him. No more pesky percentages to worry about.
                              2. They are just tricks. Once you know how to do it, it's no big deal, so there's none of that pesky "training" all of the time.
                              3. They have a certain "cool" factor. They always play this up when they're selling you on it in class. "How many people can say they've walked on fire?" they'll tell you. As a result, they can charge a significant amount for it.

                              From a pure money-grubbing perspective, it's a gold-mine.

Of note on this side as well, a number of high end Jiu Jitsu guys will teach seminars at their affiliate clubs for essentially airfare and a few bucks.
