    washing feet

The feet washing wasn't just it. Later, Patenaude passed around a bucket, asking everybody to sniff it without showing any reaction. It was full of dog shit. He tried to explain that this exercise had to do with concepts of realty. However, words are not his strength, neither is philosphpy; so, it sounded pretty stupid.

Please tell me you are joking! WOW! I've seen so many other schools that make you wash your own feet, and have a serious lack of buckets of fecies. What are people paying for? Martial Arts?

Goddamn, I want to be a mcdojo leader. I'd be pulling things like that all the time.

"Sijo, why did you make me drink my own pee?
"It is part of your spiritual training. Now, for your next kata you will go over to that group of Hell's Angels and call them faggots."

                This is Television expose material.

Feet washing? Turd Sniffing? wow... Why not just be nice as a sign of humility or go out and do some community service?

This is definitely sounds like a 'cult' of sorts that preys on the weak willed.

WHich then askes thet question Whos fault is it anyway? the schools? or the people crazy enough to stay and not cut losses sooner?

                  feet washing

I forgot to mention: after washing people's feet, you were supposed to kiss the feet and thank the person for allowing you to serve him! And the water wasn't changed either when you moved on to the next person or changed roles.

I dont want to sound like a dick, but arent you exagerrating the facts here.
this sounds a little extreme to me, even for JP...

Lubomir, I've been to a training camp, and that did NOT happen to me. Lots of exercise and I was well fed, but what you describe is not in my experience.

This happened at the training camp in August 2005. Check with others who were there.

crossposted in the other fsd thread

I have been following this for a few days. I am currently an FSD student. I know a number of the people who have posted from FSD as well as the sifus who have posted. I've been trying to organize some thoughts with respect to many of the things mentioned here by numerous people. I've not had the time available to me to devote to this however, so I have simply been trying to follow the thread. A few things that I read today annoyed me, however, and I wished to respond.

I am not what is referred to here as a nuthugger. I agree with virtually all of stringfellow, take 2, ozzy, and nOOb's comments. I have discussed with them and others the deficiencies in the system, the cult-like issues, and the money-grubbery that seems to plague the school. I have tried as best as I can to train and block out all off the political crap. I know that eventually I will leave the system and move on to something else, but at this time I feel I have unfinished business on a personal level that I need to finish.

I will echo the comments of many that Scott Hill is an awesome instructor. Considering the level that he has risen to within the organization it is astounding that he seems the least affected by cult-like thinking. He treats his students with respect. He runs tight, challenging classes. He encourages students. He does not pressure them. He answers questions when he can. I have never, to my recollection, had him tell me that he can't answer even the most difficult and probing questions with regards to the system that I have asked. I have infinite respect for the man.

I have had no problem with either of the other sifus who have posted here. I understand that they may not have acquitted themselves well, but they also run amazing classes and have been respectful of me and the people I know in the system.

I can't debate the merits of FSD as a MA school. They do not claim to be MMA, as has been mentioned a number of times. What I will say that it is a matter of expectation. I went to FSD because I knew from people within that it offered a great workout. I can attest that it gave me significant boosts in physical and cardiovascular strength. I believe that it helped my self confidence and my self esteem, at least at the beginning. I did not expect for FSD to train me for competition on the street, in a ring, or in an octagon. It has done what I wanted it to at this point, though I still have personal goals I wish to acheive that have nothing to do with sifu or JP pressure.

I have significant difficulty with lubomir's comments. I have been to training camp. I have been to many seminars and classes. I've never seen nor heard about feet washing or buckets of dog crap. I have no problem with most of what has been said in this thread or the other main FSD thread, but those comments, in my opinion and my experience, are ridiculous.

askari - You seem an intelligent and objective individual. Thanks for helping to keep things moving.

lubomir - Where is the proof? Do you have anyone to substantiate these claims?
edit: I see this was a trainign camp 2005 thing. Again, I have heard nothing about this from anyone, including people who went to the 2005 training camp. I can't say it did NOT happen, but I haven't heard anyone support this claim.

gandolf - You are a troll. Seriously. Go start your own thread.

Again, I have no issue with the criticisms of FSD. I have plenty of my own. I have trouble with unsubstantiated claims. I have no problem with people's opinions that it is a mcdojo as I have certainly seen it turning into that.

Overall I am thankful for Stringfellow getting this going, and for the insightful and intelligent comments made by the majority of the people in these threads.

Decent article. As you can see the veterans don't believe this statement. Lubimor, you need to provide proof.

Anyway, it was Scott himself who came out saying he was an MMA fighter. That is why MMA came up. He comfirmed he foguht and won. He also said he would provide evidence.
