    Encouragement from a Master

I'm well aware that this is probably ten years old and has probably been posted before, but you just try searching Bullshido for "ashida kim" and see how many results come up. Yeah, right.

Regardless, his motivational words still ring true today.

I love how he wrote on his belt with golden glitter puffy paint.

    I remain,

Study hard, learn much, and one day someone will show you how to properly grip and draw a katana.

The lettering on the belt is really the icing on the cake.

Tough is not how you act, tough is how you train.

Man, I really want to punch him in the face. I don't know why I feel this way though. It frightens and confuses me.

His belt is really really long. Does he buy a belt that's twice his gi size?

Not only is he drawing the sword wrong, he's wearing it upside down. The sharp side should be towards the ground so it faces the opponent in a standard draw. The way he's drawing it the sharp side will be facing him.

The way I learned it, the sharp side is indeed pointing up when you carry the sword, but you turn the sheath with your left hand as you draw with your right, so that the blade points outward (and you get a decent grip with your right).

He offered this on his own forums, so I would assume so.
