    Martial Arts in the Mainstream

Is it just me, or is Muay Thai and San-shou (sp?) becoming more and more popular? Nowadays whenever I flip to ESPN2, I see some pretty popular fighters (Cung Lee, Alex Gong) fighting some decent matches.

In conclusion, I was just wondering how you think promoters and fighters could make such sports such as BJJ, Muay Thai, and Shootfighting more popular?

Remember the time in the 6th grade where you got your ass-kicked by that 80-pound short-kid? Got BJJ?

This weekend while the Super Bowl was on I found myself flipping to ESPN2 to watch some reruns of Muay Thai and K1 fights. Also the last two mornings I've caught some K1 fights on ESPN2. Like at 7am.

Yeh, Thai fights are always on in the morning from like 7-9.

Today I saw a fight between my trainer Tommy Rodriguez, and some Russian Tae-Kwon-Do specialist.

And yet ESPN gave prime time, post superbowl coverage to the world breaking championships.

          Grrr...I hate breaking competitions.
And that's when I figured out that tears couldn't make somebody who was dead alive again. There's another thing to learn about tears, they can't make somebody who doesn't love you any more love you again. It's the same with prayers. I wonder how much of their lives people waste crying and praying to God. If you ask me, the devil makes more sense than God does. I can at least see why people would want him around. It's good to have somebody to blame for the bad stuff they do. Maybe God's there because people get scared of all the bad stuff they do. They figure that God and the Devil are always playing this game of tug-of-war game with them. And they never know which side they're gonna wind up on. I guess that tug-of-war idea explains how sometimes, even when people try to do something good, it still turns out bad.

And that Sport Karate bullshit, with the deluded wankers in the neon dogi twirling around balsa-wood bo, too.

Back on Okinawa, forms competition was always held before fighting in tournaments, and the reason was for you to scare the living shit out of your opponents before you fought them. These guys, I wouldn't be scared of if you gave them a rocket launcher and body armor.
